Yes.
Currently it's just "Hey everyone, look at what this moron posted!". But with the new system, when a group disagrees with a post, for example "Garithos did nothing wrong", the brigade can instead damage their "trust" value.
Great now I'm imaging gangs of human paladins roaming the streets.
That said, it does sound like a problem Blizzard should look into.
Don't you just love the advertising and wrong-think potential of the new boards?

They're called crusaders.
"Well met, dirtbag. You're on the wrong side of Cathedral Square."
I read up more on the trust levels, and they aren't THAT unholy if we get the HoTS version. But it still annoys me that we have to start from 0 and prove ourselves over months.
Maybe that would make sense if it was free to join the forum, but only CURRENTLY paying customers can post. I've paid Blizz over $2000 in the last 14 years to post on these forums. But they don't know who I am enough to trust me to post more than 3 threads a period?
Threads now infinitely scroll as the βpagesβ system has been removed.
Everything sounds good except for this.
Edit: I take it back I just caught up on the karma discussion. Sounds bad. They shouldjust remove up/downvotes altogether, they already went halfway there a while back by removing downvotes.
Over time, these players will be rewarded with the ability to post more often
So, you only get to post 3x a day unless you buy a "Blizz Forum Gold" account?
Or trusted posters may have shorter posting cooldowns, with the standard cooldowns being raised to an hour instead of a minute.
So is this a crack at shushing up toxicity? / Modernizing Generals troll fest?
the infinite scroll might not work well for users on mobile..
hmmph .. not sure how i feel about if.
Big brother/blizzard.. Theres people who've posted for a decade who have long earned credibility. Sigh.

It's simply easier for them to start everyone at zero. Those who earned credibility the first time should be able to do so again.

Upvotes and downvotes inherently poison conversation, merely seeing them has a small effect on how people view that persons stance.
Herd mentality is baked into our psyche, even the most strong willed of us succumb without realizing it from time to time.

What is wrong with the current forums? Should we just go to an unofficial forum instead? What is their deal here?

I never cried though, when my posts were downvoted. If anything it made me think about what I posted, and how I could have made my post better. I don't think it was toxic. And if I triggered someone enough that they were like "screw this crap, downvote beeotch!" then maybe I deserved it. At the end of the day, its just a forum, and really if a post ever had like 50 downvotes it was because the post was garbage to begin with. I really don't see the problem with the way story forum was a couple years ago.... although GD was kind of garbage and literally every post was downvoted, I felt like story forum was really fair in its judgement.

What do people do on community discords anyway? Do they actually get on microphone and chat to each other?
So wait, there's a limit to how many times we can post now?

Apparently the forums were not designed for engaged conversations... or is this... another blizzard time gating strategy? I don't even want to know. I don't want to go all "freedom of speech" because I know that it's blizzard's forum, but really? why limit the conversation about your product. How is that good for the game, for blizzard, or the people playing the game?
This is definitely going to put a wrench in having longer discussions in a timely manner, initially at least, though I don't know how long of a period that will be. Also RIP WET forums for a little.
Trust Level shenanigans aside, my major gripe would be if they showed BTags as opposed to your character. I really hope that isn't to come.

Some people do. Its disgusting.
The rest of us just talk about lore, troll each other, meme eachother, and post lewds in the.... lewd channel like civilized folk.

Unlimited forums means they have to hire more moderators. And that costs Activision's stockholder's money.
Seems like a reasonable time to bow out gracefully. Sub's almost up anyway.
