New Expansion Major Extinction Event

Think about it. The earth has suffered 5 major extinction events but has WoW had one yet? The time is ripe. All the changes over the years, players lost, and mistakes made have led to this. It is time in the near future for WoW to suffer a major extinction event reset.

In order for WoW to rise again to the heights it once reached, a major solar/asteroid extinction event is going to take place. The only habitable place is going to be Azeroth, the one and only starting point. The land will be massively distorted from the event. All characters turn to stone and fossilized. All your hard work will not be forgotten though as the gods of WoW have noted. Through the struggle we start again as level 1’s discovering the brutalized and beautiful new land of Azeroth, building our forces as Alliance and Horde on a total new scale never imagined.

Um… technically Azeroth has had one extinction event.

Sargeras’ sword.

We just haven’t felt the effects yet because the current Senior VP of Story and Franchise Development, Sean Copeland, is not Chris Metzen and sucks at his job.

I still want to know what’s on the other side of the planet. And why the continents are seemingly in the northern hemisphere.

Been paying attention to OG Red Shirt Guy too, I see?

They should have hired HIM. Hell, even Christie Golden was a better choice for VP.

Did he say something about those topics? The only thing I know about him is the Wildhammer thing. I stopped following WoW stuff during Cata.

Yeah he did. He had questions at almost every WoW Q&A until 2017. Then they stopped taking his questions.

Curiously, that lines up with about the time Chris Metzen stepped down…

Would be a pretty cool idea for WoW 2 if they ever did it! A fractured Azeroth, wildly changed due to an extinction event and time passing, new races have evolved, new lands have risen, but the same struggle for power.

Correct. Ten chars.

Well and before Sargeras’ sword in the ground we had the Cataclysm.

Yeah, and so far the only casualties of that were…

…WERE there any casualties?

The only casualty of the Cataclysm was the subscriber count.

I mean if we’re counting this, then we’ve had 3.

The Sundering
The Cataclysm (Deathwing can’t break the world, cause huge waves, fly around burning people to death, etc. and not be considered a mass extinction event.)
Sargeras’s Sword(?)

Edit: Arguably 4 if you want to include the undead plague and the demon invasion of WC3.

Yeah but The Sundering and undead plague actually had casualties.

All Sargeras killed were a bunch of bugs. That sword should have wiped out all life on the planet as soon as it hit atmo.

It should have done more then that. It should have completely split the planet in 2.

See, now if Legion had happened after Wrath and then Cata happened after Legion, people would have been a lot more Okay with the world suddenly just changing I think.

Maybe.

I was never totally okay with all that content being erased though. That seemed to me like a bad move.

Well yeah, but it could have been one of those things like with Teldrassil, which is what they should have done with cata, the world stays in tact until you finish the expansion content before the world breaks and then you’re phased into the new broken world.

I think the whole Deathwing idea was a dud. It seems like Blizzard had no idea what to do with the story after Wrath so they picked a villain and made them the focus of the next expansion.

I’d rather see a new direction like this than go right into TBC again… just please no TBC…

I dont wanna watch WOW die again
