New Dungeon Deserter Debuff

I’m playing Legion Remix. Died near the end of the dungeon, and asked for a rez. Instead, my toon got teabagged. This was right between the last 2 bosses. I commented in party, that it was a juvenile thing to do.

Right before the last boss, I was kicked and got the Dungeon Deserter debuff. WTF? That’s a b_llsh_t move, and a bad debuff for something like this.

I didn’t like the debuff the way it was before, but its a lot better than getting it for being kicked. Especially for something as childish as being teabagged, and saying something.

As usual, wrong wins on the internet.

This really needs to be fixed.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience but I LOLd hard at this story I’m sorry!! :joy:

At least you’re consistent; this is the way the debuff was before. Getting kicked has given the debuff since Cata, almost 15 years ago.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but being kicked has no moral structure behind it. It’s a simple majority vote. Good groups will use it for good reasons and bad groups will use it for bad reasons, and blizzard stays out of the social interaction.

Being kicked, for whatever reason, gives the debuff because our community demonstrated very early that it is a problem when there is a benefit to incentivize getting kicked rather than just leave. Once that benefit, avoiding the debuff, was removed, the system functioned generally well, with the occasional collateral damage of people like you, being kicked for a reason we can generally agree is a bad by people behaving poorly.

Short story here is: it needs to work this way, but it’s unfortunate when people get the debuff for stuff like this. Try not to take it personally.

lol the “problem,” being that people aren’t allowed to refuse to do something they get into and later realize they dont want to do when it turns out to be miserable, heh.

I mean, that’s how far back you’re going, right Kali?

This constant crusade for justifying this ridiculous debuff because of the Oculus is such a weird hill to die on.

Do you not understand why it hasn’t been a problem since Oculus and Zul’Aman? There is no reason to force a group to kick you because the consequence is the same as leaving. What do you think will happen if people are allowed to bypass the debuff again by “inspiring” other players to kick them?

This argument that we can do away with this because it hasn’t been an issue for 15 years is just as dumb as people saying we should do away with vaccination because people aren’t even getting sick with those diseases anyway.

I mean we’ve sparred before on this topic. I dont recall ZA ever being mentioned before in your previous posts though….people left this one too, during cata I assume? Wondering why…unless it’s that the LFG version still had all the unavoidable RP that made it take 200 years?

Occulus was a crap-designed dungeon and it took blizzard way too long to fix it by having the drakes scale with your gear.

I dont know why you refuse to hold the devs accountable for bad design decisions and instead just give them a free pass to poorly design stuff but want to instead, focus on punishing players…

  1. Ara Kara could have been solved with better trinket balance and/or putting a trinket (since it’s historically like a weapon..supposed to be rarer) on the last boss intead of the first

  2. Allowing people to blacklist dungeons on the random tool could go a long way into helping give them more data on what dungeons need tuning and/or need to be fixed if everyone is skipping them.

Oh I don’t. That’s why I don’t want them to change the deserter debuff in such a way that it encourages poor behavior.

just ignore the other points that I brought up that caused the issue to begin with and keep picking at the symptoms instead. Fine.
