New dk intro

Like I said in the mechagnome thread, I’m gonna miss Earl Boen’s intro.

I dunno, all these leader-focused intros just don’t appeal to me much. Can’t quite put my finger on it, it just feels weird. The narrator felt like an actual narrator, reading the beginning of the tale of your character’s adventures. It was neutral, the same voice for every race, yet I feel more emotion from those than from the generic “you’re going to make our people proud” intros that are being introduced now.

I hope to see you all role a DK pandaren for the lolz.

“Slow down. Death is to be savored!”

Why roll a Panadren DK when you can go a step further and be a Mechagnome DK?

They can take the time to make allied races and pandas DKs, which is great, don’t get me wrong.

But they can’t be bothered to find a way to allow goblins or worgen to be monks?

Lame.

Do we know yet how the Allied Races become death knights? Were they killed during the war in BFA and raised by Bolvar or did they choose to become death knights?

I’m hoping for the former and dreading the latter.

I think the intro is going to be in line with the level of detail and action we get from allied race intros. Which is to say a cut scene that describes your situation, then meeting with a prominent NPC who sends you straight to your faction capital.

I wouldn’t expect activity.

Currently all that we know is that Bolvar is recruiting, and then the information from that cut scene. I expect Blizzard will leave those details intentionally vague and let the players decide.

As long as it’s not explicitly stated that the player death knight willingly chose to be a death knight, I’m fine. Otherwise, it would make Bolvar look incredibly foolish to entrust such powers to someone crazy enough to kill themselves for it.

On the one hand you’re right, nobody who wants to be a Death Knight should be trusted as a Death Knight.

On the other hand, he’s turning Lightforged into Death Knights and that can’t turn out well. So who knows, maybe he is just that crazy.

Or stupid.

An undead, Zombified, cyborg, Gnome, in full plate armor and carrying a massive sword?
METAL!!

Not to be a hater but that scene kind of rubbed me so “underwhelming” compared to the one from WotLK.
Apparently Bolvar spent his time in the ice cube mastering how to raise new undead and makes new Death Knights out of the corpses of many races… provided by whom? Who went to Vol’dun and scrounged all those littered Vulpera corpses and carried them away all over to Icecrown? Same about the Pandaren and… Mechagnome DKs? The “you made the ultimate sacrifice” doesn’t fit with the fact that they scampered for corpses FAR AWAY from Northrend, and I don’t think an innocent Vulpera killed by Faithless or a Pandaren killed my Mantid did any sacrifice (if any). ((just a point of reminder: I’m not against DK being accessible to all – just against this underwhelming intro they cooked to solve the fact of the newly added races))

In Acherus we get to see how corpses risen from common civilians or weak warriors are ended without giving them a reprieve to get to their senses or train. Here it looks like Bolvar’s lackeys simply “chose well” from the start, pick the fallen and then they are risen as Death Knights, and you are barely reminded of what you have done in life or the BURDEN of becoming VENGEANCE INCARNATE.

Too streamlined in my opinion, unless the firsts quests after that pithy speech addresses that concern and fleshes out more the experience. Perhaps this will be the pick for those who don’t care to go through lore/errand quests when making a Death Knight. After all, it’s almost impossible to phase out from that part of Plaguelands because of an invisible wall (?) if you don’t do the quest-chain.

/Le sigh

I personally got the distinct impression that Bolvar knew exactly why Sylvanas was coming, and he also knew she’d win. Makes sense he wouldn’t want the Horsemen killed. Might not be able to remake them without the Blades of the Fallen Prince?

Yeah, but can we talk about Darion’s voice? Jaffe is amazing

Pretty odd that only unholy and blood DKs were lined up for the New AR DKs since we all know that 2hand Frost is dead…I still don’t understand how Blizzard can keep 2h frost lore figures like Arthas/Bolvar when the player can’t play 2h frost

Probably the same way that Blizzard can keep bow-priest lore figures even though those have never been playable.

that is a, really, really stupid thing to think. He had the entire might of the scourge on his beck and call, but apparently Sylvanas is actually Doomguy and can easilly defeat AN ENTIRE ARMY OF THE DAMNED by herself.

Ion said that Bolvar is the only one besides Sylvanas who’s seen “both worlds.”
