Should be evident that Blood Elves have culturaly gone another direction when their leader, a former Farstrider, looks like he does compared to Alleira -which is a time capsule of what Farstriders were- Both Rangers, but it’s evident how their contexts differ now.
Look, Farstrider tattoos on Blood Elves would be neat, more customization the better, but there’s a huge disconnect between what Blizzard has been showing us Blood Elves are -fancy, haughty, elegant, ostentatious, pragmatic- since 2006 and people’s interpretation they are just High Elves, but Horde.
I don’t mind adding Farstrider tattoos on Blood Elves, but I think a lot of other ideas for customization better reflect what they Are Now, not what They Were.
-Runic tattoos/scars like in the BC cover art.
-Geometric tattoo designs like Rommath
-Actual Scars.
And again, this is not a “No, only Void Elves should get ranger tattoos because Alleria” post; What I am trying to say is that there’s so much Blood Elves have that’s part of their unique journey that we can draw inspiration from instead of farstrider tattoos that no Blood Elf has ever used in WoW.
It’s like when people keep trying to says we can’t have High Elves without Paladins. There’s a big difference between possible and “race defining”
And farstrider tattoos are really not BE defining -and of course I mean BE defining since their appearance as a new denomination, because of course choosing to rename themselves and reinvent themselves came with a huge cultural evolution that alleged Blood Elf fans love to dismiss-
So, Scars and geometric tattoos and runes. Also undead elf customization.
