Finally. Hope this means that people like me who love the sindorei can be left alone to enjoy our Horde race while the ones that want to play the generic swords and sorcery elf can go play there’s.
This also bodes well in that the night elves have possibility to get their fangs back. Since they are no longer the peaceful, namby-pamby LotR elf race.
I’d say a blue eyed Blood elf is still certainly much closer to what I want to reflect my High elf character in game. As a Horde Elf I have the option of simply saying that I’m a high elf who has recently joined their cause, no void transformation, still connected to the Sunwell, pure.
I don’t think I could ever get over the inherent voidy aspect revolving a void elf however. It just all feels a bit dark for a character that might not have even agreed with consorting with the fel. There’s just too many lore implications that surround it. And I need my blonde hair for my mog. lol
This reflects my lore thoughts as well.
I can dress my void elves as High elves but their racials and backstory are still tied to them selling themselves to the void for power.
Still, i’ll take what I can get. Have never been able to get into playing horde.
Will this have lore reasoning and repercussions? Does this work in tandem to expanding the lore of Void Elves to include the joining of High Elves into their ranks?
This is good news, I like it in aesthetic terms, but for many of us there has always been a very important lore component to the desire to play High Elves, so will lore advance in a way High Elves become Void Elves, or Void Elves and Silver Covenant join forces and become one political entity?
Is this the future for thalassian exiles in the alliance as a group with shared goals within the narrative, or only an cosmetic option?
Void elves with flesh tones doesn’t really seem to make sense with the whole left the blood elves and embraced the void part of their lore.
These just look like blood elves with emo hair styles? I get the whole high elf drama, but this just seems weird.
Why not flesh orcs now or trolls or draenei? Usually the tones of the skin for the races are similar so they follow the theme and fit with the race, but with this option you are really splitting it into two distinct race options.
Like giving orcs the mag’har tones for example.
The tones typically represent pigmentation changes due to exposure or lack of exposure, but I hardly see blue being turned flesh or brown through exposure alone. Darker and lighter yes, brighter and greyer sure. But complete different colour? That isn’t variance that’s genetic difference.
I hope so, because otherwise it doesn’t make sense. It’s merely pandering to the complaints, without truly addressing them.
I highly doubt it will have anything to do with High Elves at all, and is simply a “there! Fair skinned elves with blue eyes! Are you finally happy now!?”
Kind of thing.
Which would be a real shame, since it’s far easier to address the lore issues with some flavor text.
Having this is nice, but I truly hope this leads to Void Elves and High Elves joining into one political entity in the alliance. It makes sense for them given their resources and population -limited- it allows Void Elves a natural way to procreate and continue, and HE’s the possibility to create a cultural identity outside humans.
Ugh I am tired of all the Windrunners. Please, please can we do away with them? So we can get some cool female High/Blood Elves female representation. The males are not hard done by in that category. The females are not so fortunate. I don’t want the same blonde triplets that have been a thing forever…
People complain about the same WC3 female character representing Night Elves My problem is the same expect for the Blood Elves.
Awesome! Now the entire game can be dominated by a lone race instead of just the Horde. Looking forward to 30% of players looking identical and another 10% playing the other Elf variants. Let’s pump a few more Elf ARs in this expansion and maybe we can surpass 50%!
No, because people wanted to play the High Elves that have been within the Alliance, that have been part of the Alliance, and still are apart of the Alliance.
Void Elves make no sense since it was just a “lets just reskin this blood elf, make some lore up, and shut them up”.
True Horde since Vanilla baby, I’m sick of wannabe Horde making up excuses.
If you want to leave the faction leave, we don’t want you flakey elves anyways.
This is just pathetically lazy. Why even bother having “Blood Elf” and “Void Elf” at this point? Just make “High Elf” a neutral race alongside Pandaren, and there you go.
