I actually have no objection to giving Blood Elves new themes that are exclusively their own.
I’m a huge proponent of adding Darkfallen themes to Blood Elves for those who want to RP as San’layn or Dark Rangers.
If you start a campaign for some new “Light Themed” Blood Elves options, I’d be eager to see any concept art and would gladly support the effort to get them in game.
I agree as well, I’d like more light options for them as well. Gold runic tattoos are a given, but what else could we give them? I’m intrigued to see if anyone had any other ideas.
And pink hair for Void Elves would tie into their subtle punk/gothic aesthetic and wouldn’t detract from Blood Elves at all.
I was playing Lightforged Blood Elves back in WoD, before Lightforged Draenei or Void Elves even existed. Basically Elves are the eevees of Warcraft and mutate based on whatever magic they last rolled in.
Headcanon stuff I’ve come up with to light overexposure/mutation is skin on extremities like arms and legs changing to a subtly glowing gold that kinda freckle up / dither into normal skin tones. Hair/brows/lashes turning white/gold with a glow.
I’ve also done wretched variants that have hands/forearm crystalizing like the dryads in Nexus.
I’ve mentioned that I would rather see the Light blue Alleria has (the traditional tattoo from WCII) be available to both along with black since that’s kinda a neutral color.
Blue, teal, purple and void is what I’d like to see for velf.
Red, orange, gold, and fel or light tattoos for Belf.
They both get the traditional type/color and black but also specific colors and maybe different designs for each specifically.
I’m fine with both elves getting tattoos but it would be preferable if they were somewhat different. And had different colors (maybe with a few overlapping colors.)
But at the end of the day i’ll be happy if i’m able to make an elf wearing those classic WC2 Celtic looking tattoos. I’ve always loved that theme on the Alliance with the High Elves. Really a theme that’s been missing from the game forever.
