I dont like how changing spec would change your backstory.

warlocks would riot.

but yeah, third spec would be good, they just have to be careful not to step on anymore toes while making it.

A new spec for the classes that make the most sense.

Ranged holy damage dealer(shockadin) or Spellbreaker a dps shield wearer type spec, Tank spec for Lock, you are buffing your pet that is the tank. Tank spec Shaman. Chronomancer mage spec based around time. Tinker spec for Hunter. Ranged dps Monk spec, Shield wearer dps spec for War (Gladiator in wod)

Tinkers aren’t hunters.
Hunter doesn’t have a single ability that is even similar to the Tinker hero unit.
Reducing Tinker down to 1 spec is a bad idea considering they could do damage and Tank in Warcraft 3.

If they made a necro I would play it. If they made a necro skin for warlock I would play that too. I was a necro in EQ so I’ve always wanted to like warlock, as it’s the mechanical descendent, but I just can’t get into the demon aesthetic. Let me raise some skeletons though and I’d be all over the class.

I’m not basing myself on other D&D or Blizzard related game.

And hunter in vanilla were kinda gadgety. Hence why if would make the most sense if it was down to one spec for hunter to get it following my own idea of one spec to the classes that make the most sense, also trying to avoid the same theme.

And in Warcraft: Hunters, and Tinkers are two different things.

Hunters being kinda gadgety does not make them tinkers.
You have traps and can commune with animals. That is not a tinker. at all.

When you can tank in a Mech suit, Fire missiles, and build pocket factories, all while playing hunter. Then come talk to me.

This could literally be a gnome playing hunter and you wouldnt tell the difference.

Yes I could.

A gnome hunter would be labeled Hunter.
They would have abilities like traps, aspects, stings, and Hunters mark.
They would have a pet.
None of those things are remotely like a Tinker.

Making them a Hunter.

If I saw a Gnome in a Mech suit, firing blaster cannons at his enemies. I would think “That’s a Tinker”
Like Mekkatorque. Or Thermaplugg. Who definitely aren’t hunters.

I think no new classes should be added and believe that demon hunters should be removed. The devs already can’t balance the core classes as it is.

I have always wanted to see Engineer become its own class!

Could have the obvious tank spec where you pilot a capable tanking mech. It could potentially have talents/abilities like “Grappling Hook” that pulls an enemy in or pulls the Engineer to the enemy and “Rocket Burn”- an AoE ability that where the Mech pilot blasts it back and feet rockets in n the ground to do a radius of fire damage. Would come equip with all the standard things; lasers, buzz saw arm, an AoE slow with firing off a net, etc.

It’s DPS spec could use guns to finally give the ranged loot pool some flavor. Engineer would also deploy various gadgets, drones and bombs to wreek havoc on the battlefield.

Might be cool!

Are a handful of RTS games from the 90s really the reason that this game is popular? I don’t think you can prove that, your antidotal evidence and opinions be damned.

After being on the hate train for a long time I can finally accept and play as a tinkerer.

It’s not just the RTS games.
But WoW’s uniqueness is what makes it popular. In my opinion at least.

I can’t think of another fantasy universe that does the Tinker fantasy so well. WoW’s tinkers are badass. Like Iron-man with a lot more steampunk.

Yeah… we need FIRST Tinkers, and the first give cloth class or Mail Class a spec tank for the first time.

And your spec are

  • Magic Engineer (DPS Magic range spec): weapon manipulation control, use from nano technologies, great speed with jetpacks and rockets dash, attack from satelites and mini drones from with arcane, frost or fire control, use one-handed weapons for remote manipulations from range attacks or Aoe Melee attacks use lazer blasts or weapon clones . (main weapon: one-handed weapons excepts Wand, left handed, varie yours attacks depend from weapon)
  • Mech Gunner (Tank spec): Control for mech and big robots like Druid guardian spec, use from defense shield and proyectiles for mass AoE, the robots and mech models varie depend from race (like Shamans totems). (main weapon: fists weapons)
  • Medic Engineer (heal spec): use from drones and pods like totems for greater healing specs, are would use tranquilizer bullets to cause CC to some targets or healing bullets for mayor single heal target.(main weapon: Guns weapons)

So, before you think about other classes in Azeroth, don’t forget that they still owe us tinkers in the game.

They don’t owe anyone any class. They are only going to add what is relevant to the story they want to tell. As they are now focused on expanding new lore going forward that will probably involve new ideas for classes.

If they do add another class it should not have one of each role. 2x rdps and either healer or tank not both. If that means tinkers aren’t the next class, oh well maybe next time.

That being said if the Horde and Alliance are headed toward a cold war like situation (the war may be over but we’re not exactly friendly) then yes tinkers would make sense from a point of spearheading development of new weapons and defences for the inevitable next war.

Or, save that and make it a warlock spec if they ever make 4th specs.

DHs do need a 3rd spec though. And maybe, just maybe, let us warlocks speak demonic again. Warlocks and DHs both should be do that, no reason DHs had to steal it.
