Never Get Any Alpha/Beta

So this is my first ever post on the forums i bet their will be some trolls under my post, but after 13+ years of playing world of warcraft and also a diablo 2 player before i came to WOW. i’ve never ever received any kinds of beta or alpha for any of the games and i’ve been opted in for YEARS! I just hate how i never get chosen i don’t have any strikes against my accounts and have never left my account without game time for more then two+ months. I’d actually be one of the people who give feedback on the game. i haven’t seen any people who are currently playing alpha give actual feedback on multiple classes every streamer i see play its the same CLASS over and OVER. Giving beta/alpha to players who haven’t even played the game in awhile is DUMB. People who never play retail getting alpha its DUMB. end of my rant TY

This round of invites went out to journalists and friends and family of Blizzard developers.

I’m sorry you haven’t seen a chance to test the game yet.

I have alpha because of the latter, and I promise to you that I am submitting bugs and giving feedback left and right.

Most companys use the"beta" advertisement model now, eventually everyday players get a invite. Normally though its halfway if not 2/3 of the way done though so any big things we post by that point dont ever get addressed until about the first content patch or, in BfAs case, the last content patch.

I was watching a stream yesterday, they were putting in bug reports.

Only the first and smallest wave of invites has gone out right now. There’s still a lot more to come.

But for the most part invites are entirely random. No matter how long you’ve played you’re never guaranteed to get into it. It’s just how it’s always worked.

I bet the majority of players have not gotten beta access. Also what does you having played Diablo 2 have to do with anything?

People like to bag in streamers but I see them submit bug reports all the time. And if they don’t, it’s visually there for people to see. The devs have been hanging out in streams watching as things play out, like how Lore/Ion we’re watching Sloot the other day. Not to mention a lot of those streamers I believe are also the ones who write the Icy Veins/WoWhead guides so they’ve got an idea of what they’re talking about and doing.

It sucks that you didn’t get in. I’ve never been in for an alpha but I have received a few beta invites. And I’ve been subbed for going on 14 years now, so it really is a matter of being lucky. Nothing much to it.

Bummer, Ted. Invites are typically random after the streamers and media invites go out so you’ve just been unlucky.

Boo hoo. You’ll play when the rest of us play.

Become Ian’s IRL friend and he will give you alpha invitations

i have never got an Alpha test invite. Im ok… i have however gotten into a few Beta tests!

I mean im not hurt over it. It just is what it is.

Just to show how long i’ve been with blizzard m8

Why do you want to be in it? You’ll be playing it for 3+ years after it releases.

And for everyone responding, I wasn’t saying all streamers. Some in fact actually do care about the well-being of the game, but others want it for publicity in their channel. I’m not super butthurt over this since its still really early but i would love to test

I’ve been in every Beta they have offered since Burning Crusade, even for other games and a few Blizzard Alphas.

I suspect, with WoW at least, for the non-streamers or insiders that get in it has more to do with how you play the game than how long you’ve played. Yes, they have mentioned “long standing accounts” but they can’t simply invite everyone with a long standing account and keep it limited to a closed, small community at the same time.

On top of that, there may be invite waves for Betas that don’t go by criteria at all and invite random people.

It’s really hard to tell, and these things don’t seem to have patterns.

Not everyone will get it, it’s just the nature of the beast.

I playing my small violin :violin: my heart bleeds for you

As someone who has been invited to the Betas of WoD and BfA, I assure you that testing new content isn’t as good as you would think it would be.

Sure, you get to experience the content before most do (unless most also watch streams or youtube), but you also experience a lot of brokenness. I guess being a tester, you get to experience some pride in the fact that you helped Blizzard “test” things a bit before the content goes live. But often times, a lot of feedback do get ignored, either because Blizzard doesn’t believe it’s game breaking, or the feedback goes against what they envision that content to be.

And often times, I didn’t finish testing the beta because it just spoiled the content for me before it went live.

It’s really weird for me, I opted in to the Shadowlands Beta, but deep down I hope I don’t get invited so I can just experience the content the first time when it goes live. But if I do get invited, I would at least try to test and provide feedback.

Are you different in any way? Or just another casual ? Top 5% raider ? Top 5% pvper? 99% of all achieves ? Most garbage PC build ever ? Most expensive PC build ever ? Max user? If you’re just average, like you probably are, why would you get an invite? They’re trying to get data , not allow early access. Also the streamers are free advertisement .

FYI, I’ve been Perma banned from the forums on this acc + at least 1-2 bans in game and I still get invites

Streamers advertise the game for Blizzard.

At the same time, if someone is streaming the test environment, it means more eyeballs on the product - that means more opinions from viewers.
