this boss is actually free on a +20 though. This isn’t a design issue, it is a player issue. Sub +25 tyran the soul rend isn’t even dangerous. Just don’t walk into spiders and bait properly and the boss isn’t hard.
my run started with a low% wipe on Rezan, and 20-ish deaths total. Still timed.
Nice contradicting yourself. The spiders spawning where you drop soulrend is just stupid. They should NOT be a one shot on a +20. I don’t care what happens in a +25-30. As most people I stop where rewards stop. The spiders should hurt, but not ONE shot people. Being alive or dead is never fun, they need to be tuned to maybe take half your health on a 20 so you can be healed up.
And if they don’t wanna do that, STOP SPAWNING THEM UNDER PLAYERS RUNNING OUT TO STACK SOULREND.
Show me on this doll where those little purple spiders got you. Also I’m shocked people can not see the super duper tiny translucent purple swirly on the floor before it spawns! I mean it’s probably not because the purple swirly is smaller than our character model!
If you didn’t guess I’m being sarcastic, that fight is way more annoying than it needs to be lol. The problem is AD was super easy, and they had to make it harder. This is the result we got. AD was quickly turning into another SMBG from Season 1, which they didn’t want to happen.
Now the fight involves perfect movement from all 5 players, on higher keys, or it’s just a wipe. Like if your geared you can just zerg/yolo it on a 20, but on 22 and 23 you do have to move right even on Fort weeks. Good luck on Tyran weeks lol, may the odds be ever in your favor!
I hated this boss in BFA, and I hate this boss today.
I don’t think yazma is hard with the right strat, but I would not be upset if it took a health nerf. Fight is boring. Also very prone to disaster if the group isn’t on the same page.
Take a look at this video, it offers a nice summation of how to make this boss easy. I haven’t actually tried this but I looked it up yesterday after wiping on Yazma to the point of exhaustion.
Mechanically I dont find the boss too difficult but I think it needs a health nerf the fight is too long
All they need to do is more clearly indicate where the spiders are spawning. Dying to something really hard to see just feels so aggravating.
Even doubling the size of their spawn swirlies would go a long way. It’s really the only change to her I care to see.
What’s sad about this thread is how common it is - I hear and see everyone complaining about this boss at lower levels when none of us are playing keys where the truly scary things start to emerge - soulrend initial hit and wracking pain one-shotting people.
As someone who has ran a LOT of atals this season on many tanks I can say the issue lies with DPS. It doesn’t matter where I move the boss some folks refuse to move with us and instead scatter with soulrend. It’s a glaring DPS problem that can’t be solved by your tank and healer alone. DPS need to learn.
I will say the ping system has done wonders… I just tell them to stack on boss and move together and I ping where they need to go. So long as they do the first part right they all seem to follow the pings. After 1-2 successful ones they follow commands like clockwork
At some point there are just too many spiders and you can’t get to the boss as melee or you can’t stack with the ranged. Then when you have even a few spells going on at the same spot, you can’t even see the spiders spawn. You also have to have eyes in your back because a spider will just randomly creep on you from behind. Zoom in too close and you can’t see anything behind you, zoom out too far and you can’t see the spider puddles at all.
It wasn’t a fun boss in BfA, it’s not a fun boss in DF.
Spiders need a spawn limit or expire after a while.
This is a symptom of either poor boss positioning by the tank, dps not stacking and moving with the boss, or a combination of both.
If done correctly, they are not a problem, at all.
We know what we’re doing, because we did kill her. We were making sure the spiders were gathered up at a single place and we moved to the other side. However at some point there just are too many spiders. I got lucky and managed to cloak kill a bunch of them and that made it a lot easier, but that shouldn’t be necessary.
There are 2 bosses with an enrage timer:
- Yazma with how many spiders there will be on longer fights
- Iridikron with an instant death if you don’t beat the DPS check on the shield
Both are terrible fights and these kind of enrage timers do not belong in dungeons. Every other fight has either never had a (soft) enrage, or had its mechanics altered so you didn’t run out of space in fights where you had the floor being puddled to death.
These 2 fights are outliers that need mechanical tweaks to fix. (Soft) enrage mechanics are incompatible with Tyrannical due to tuning.
Thanks for posting that video. I actually came here looking for advice on how to best tank this fight. That video was really helpful
It’s not “hard” per say but it’s not fun and could use a substantial health nerf. The issue is that it’s super long and one mistake by any person makes it substantially harder.
Mostly though, it’s not a fun type of challenge. Everyone hates this boss, even those who don’t find it hard. The key to Yazma isn’t killing an add quickly, proper defensive usage, or even strong damage. It’s getting there with 5+ minutes on the timer so you can take it as slow as you need to without dying.
