Yeah, i’m not reading all that.
Aww I’m sorry. Do you need that in tidbits because spaced out paragraphs don’t work for you?
Or is it you wont bother because you have no argument.
UGH fine, if you insist. Give me a second.
Blessed I am. Given the effort of a single minute. This is reminding me of a previous debate.
Very well thought out. Good job. But one thing that you, and the other twinks fail to realize is…
Twinks are insignificant. You’re correct, there does need to be a balance. A balance between veteran players and new players, to sustain the business model. But you are incorrect to throw yourself in with the veteran players. If every single twink unsubbed tomorrow, it would be a drop in the bucket for the monthly revenues. And the newbies and the levelers would all continue to funnel their money towards blizzard. Probably in higher frequencies. In this scenario you have raiders and max lvl PvPers, Raiders, Levelers, Newbies, and twinks. I’d argue that the pet battle community is larger than the twinking community.
But, but, but - selfie cam, twitter and garrison mushroom! Surely that’s what players want!
How would early Wotlk (Arguably the best Expansion IMO) rate on your charts?
Do we remember the gearing system in place?
Considering any part of your clientele insignificant is a horrible mindset for a business.
I’m going to take this discussion in another direction, forgive me, but one of the aspects of this game that is becoming more common is isolation. Sharding breaks server communities, lfr/lfg means less meeting people and getting to know them, garrison - don’t get me started, phasing, scenarios, etc. Now separate BGs (again). It’s all very impactful in mmo play, where most of the game is based on people in groups.
In BG groups, someone asks me “Hey, where did you get that spell dagger?!” I tell them, go to Mara, kill Princess a few times. It’s not a hard drop. “Hey, what’s your rotation? I see you outdamaging me…hard.” I tell them. I tell them anything they want to know. I WANT to assist them. I WANT them to do better. I WANT them to win. I want them to enjoy themselves. Separating things denies the ability to do that if I have xp off and don’t want to lvl out of that bracket.
As it sits now, I xp on and continually need to reroll to sit in a bracket. Doable? Sure. Inconvenient? Most def. How many old players like me are willing to do this? I don’t know, but with all the unsub threads perhaps less and less.
People who have twinks do more than twink. The population is not insignificant as most vets have done it at one point or now if they like pvp. The most powerful ones would have to be since most of their items are grandfathered.
If it is so not popular why so many threads?
Pet battling? A newer thing and not an integral part of the game like BGs. You are reaching pretty far now.
Even if your argument was true it’s like saying people who BG are insignificant because more people arena.
this ^
In a perfect world. They’re not going to outright say it. But come on. They moved you I to your own queue and didn’t even announce it. TWICE. Actions speak louder than words.
And yes some people twink on the side, but those players aren’t going anywhere.
How many decisions have they made in the games history that have had negative consequences for the twinkling community. You’re not a priority.
Too right. Again, bad biz practices.
Don’t be too sure of that. Old players are getting pretty fed up with this company’s direction. Edit: and the population reflects it.
It’s hard to help those people who can’t help themselves but it is even harder when the game pushes for people to be solo instead of work together. You can tell the community has suffered because of it. If people are always pressured to solo it’s no wonder they have trouble working together for objectives.
It was also fun to see the same people over and over and get to know them in bracket. Now it doesn’t happen.
You knew Bigmaces was a wrecking ball because you played against him a dozen other times. You acted in ways to deal with that and it made it a lot more fun. Getting those same few people so you learned how to work better together was a blast. New players learned how to work better together from it.
The answer seems to always be ‘classic’ and then they say classic might have sharding lol. What a mess.
So jelly of his old gear. I’ll miss him. He’ll never lvl that toon.
I hope he never levels that toon!! Any BG with him in it was a blast. Him and his pocket heals.
Ugh the pocket heals every time lol.
The OG’s will never level out.
The whole point is to prove that your crutch that our gear gives us some kind of phenomenal power is complete hogwash. Item for item they are very similar. There is a reason we say that heirloom gear is comparable.
I specifically chose versa as I stated. I took survivability ~14% damage reduction over roughly 35 more SP. For one, I play resto, and most of the levelers I have seen are quick to blame heals for their deaths but can’t quite figure out how to help the heals in the first place. I left the enchants off because they were a wash. Having them on heirlooms allows them to get stronger as you level and for the sake of comparison they cancel each other out.
Nope, as I stated I play resto and while I admit that my damage is quite good I avg around 200 mostly less in most games. I’m just a stickler for dotting everyone that I can.
Don’t have to pull it. You said it yourself,
If you’re going to use the crux that you are leveling, I can’t see for the life of me why you don’t have your heirlooms enchanted from level 1, or level 20 if an allied race. Enchants help with that leveling because killing mobs gets you the exp faster. Are you now moving the goalpost? I don’t understand the “we are here to level, not compete” mentality.
Really? This isn’t vanilla where it took forever to get 40g. You can practically get that off your first BoE green to sell on the AH.
If it’s a truly new player, a lot of “twinks” would probably give them the enchants. I have given many away. I have also ran levelers through dungeons to help get them better gear.
If you emphasize that your main priority is to level, quickly as possible, then yeah I would expect that.
While we indeed may be the minority, let’s just sit back once the smoke clears and see who they complain about next.
There were better solutions that could have been implemented than this, and it’s a shame Blizzard worked so hard on balancing gear and nerfing outliers only to cave in so…secretly.
There it is.
What if there are other plans in the works, and this change was made temporarily?
Who knows. They wont tell us so here we are in a forum guessing.
Could be a surprise.
