The only way forward is giving us some form of titans grip and design around dual wielding.
Personally I’d like us to wield a 2H weapon in the main hand and a so called toothpick in the other, with glyphs that would allow the offhand weapon to function like dancing rune weapon flying by your side and adopting the traditional two handed weapon stance and attacks.

But because of wow’s long life span, so much has been retconned since it’s initial release.
A huge amount of people play DK both UH and frost lovers alike because they are inspired by the Lich King who famously wielded frostmourne, the 2handed rune blade.
You can argue that the LK is mostly UH because of the spells he frequently uses but there is no denying that there is a strong frost aesthetic when it comes to imagery commonly used of the big man. His visual branding is so strongly frost flavoured that thousands of people play frost DK because that is their perception of who the Lich King is.
You can paint a wall red and stick a plaque on it that says “this wall is blue”, but you can’t get mad when people think it’s red.
While the overall lore is the same, Arthas’ aesthetic in that game wasn’t one centered around ice. It was plagues, undead and death. He was also mounted and used Frostmourne with 1h.
Also saying thousands of people play Frost because of the Lich King is nonsense unless those thousands know nothing of the Lich King and have no investment in the guy.
Just because someone has pictures of themselves in a foruse doesn’t make them a lumberjack.
Content of character > how someone looks. His base was in Northrend, that doesn’t make him Frost. If people really wanted to emulate the guy then they would actually be invested in him through actual lore and content instead of some locational art to fit their fanfiction.
Because Arthas was THE Death Knight he was wielding a 2hand weapon with 1 hand. But you made an interesting point, even if unintentionally. If frost has to DW, let it be 2handers.

How many times does it have to be stated and proven? He’s primarily Unholy. It’s like saying Unholy in Wrath was Frost because it used Icy Touch. That’s what people are doing to Arthas but a little worse because they are saying he’s Frost due to the location he is in.

So what you guys are doing is linking spec to what would essentially be a race or where someone lives. Talk about a flawed way of thinking.
If weapons being the size of a person makes something a 2h weapon we already wield 2h weapons. The blades are already about 85% the height of a female orc.
Yes, and the lore in WC2 was that the DKs were literally Orc souls put into Human bodies and were far more caster oriented than “big person swinging around a sword” oriented. Which still makes the “WC2 DKs were 2h based” false because they were caster based.

LK physically aligns towards Frost aesthetically and is mechanically Unholy in every other aspect, both from his original introduction in WC3 and with all his major, cool mechanics in WoW.
Using your analogy, the wall is more red-violet with a sticker saying “this wall is red” and people getting mad saying that it’s blue. Or, better yet, using these forums as an example…
It’s a violet wall that has a sticker saying “this wall is violet” and then a certain group of people getting mad and shouting “No, this wall is CLEARLY blue and always has been!”
DW oblit still sims higher than bos for me… I’ll continue with oblit until that changes.

Can’t we just make 2-handers have the ability to apply Razorice with their Remorseless Winter, make GA and FS RP cost 25 instead of 30 and call it a day? Maybe double the Improved Rime value for 2-handers since it’s all about chunky hits instead of just Obliterates?
Also wild thought, what if I told you that there are times I would use Breath of Sindragosa just to recharge runes?
Of course, I wouldn’t use it like that now that Long Winter and Glacial Assaults are a thing.

“I play fdk and I love breath!” as well as the current builds of breath and oblit, I’ll never understand the 2h sentiment from a “fun” perspective, theres very little impact except a slower rotation, less runebinds and heavier hiting oblits. Why should a one button “BAM me do big aoe” be required for a class to be fun? The appeal to frost for me is that our dmg is varied, especially now with current builds, breath oblit and Reaper are all a large part of our dmg as opposed to one button being everything. You could also play fwf oblit dw build and slam big dragons if thats your appeal. Though I will say the hefty variance frost has dependent on reaper resets is a bit rough atm.
Because Unholy fits the “variable” damage profiling and fantasy better than DW Frost does. There is no damage profile for chunky hits which is where 2H Frost fits in. Some of us like the slower rotation, it makes ability feedback feel like they do something, which is why seeing feedback for big numbers for Chaos Bolt, Demolish and Obliterate feels good.
The reaper resets needs to be removed and damage put into FDK’s kit instead. It’s just another mechanic added on top Reaper’s Mark being front loaded with Wave of Souls and Exterminate already.
IMO, it’s weird that a Reaper with a scythe theme doesn’t use Frostscythe as one of it’s main abilities. Frostscythe should probably play into Deathbringer’s rotation a lot more.
