This is where you lost me, getting carried through a run you buy for this is much more feasible than getting carried/pay for carry through PvP
How is stating facts in any way “upset”?
Except it’s not true. If you’ve read any of this thread you’d know there IS player power tied to this Plunderstorm and the OP was proven wrong. The OP tried to side step and dance around the issue as best as they could but in the end were proven wrong.
This is also not a “game mode”. A “game mode” is dungeon/raid/arena/battleground/scenario, you know, something INSIDE the game.
People pay their subs so they can complain about content that is funded by those subs if they dislike it.
Personally I don’t like that this is what dev time was spent on, but I also am fine with having a low point in content so I can catch up with other games and am not going to worry about missing out on some silly pirate stuff that I couldn’t care much less about.
People pay their subs to play wow. If they want to complain about wow that’s fine. This is complaining about a separate game that has nothing to do with wow itself.
I’m finished with the plunder storm grind.
Now that im done with it a few thoughts.
This is not something to release in a content drought. This is something that should have been released two weeks into a patch to make it feel stuffed full of variety.
Plunder storm as a stand alone content gives people the “This isn’t what I ordered” vibe.
Cosmetic ARE character progression even if they aren’t power progression.
To solve the anti pvp problem. They should have minor tweaked Island expeditions and had another way to build plunder renown making it all plunder loot based Island for this limited event also let people get bonus level xp from it.
I didn’t really find Battle Royale type games all that fun. So 40 renown worth is at least 10 too many.
Season 4 is rehashed literally everything. That’s not a minor patch.
There’s not really a whole lot to defend? They’re whinging about a harmless update and insists it’s ‘not an update to WoW’. So yeah, I’m not gonna validate it. But I mean if you want to white knight, you do you.
I’m gonna go back and continue enjoying the new WoW update. Have fun yelling into the void and getting curmudgeonly over internet games.
It’s not an update to wow. It’s a completely separate game.
Because you’re objectively and factually wrong.
It’s not a wow update. It’s a different game.
You are the one White Knighting friend. This patch added…pirate themed cosmetics…to World of Warcraft. Thats it. Thats the whole content patch of World of Warcraft content. Patch 6.1 (the Selfie Cam patch) in WoD had more stuff in it. Plunderstorm was on the WoW Roadmap. It was hyped by the Dev’s as a super secret World of Warcraft patch with no PTR testing, no data mining. And it released as a stand-alone product that does not add anything but pirate themed cosmetics to World of Warcraft. It isn’t a game mode in the base game. You literally leave the World of Warcraft server ecosystem all together when you join Plunderstorm! There is no story progression for Dragonflight. No additional lore. (Hell, even BG’s in WoW have story attached to them!) The only connection to WoW it has is the zone it’s in and the character creation. Thats the same thing Warcraft Rumble and Hearthstone has in relation to the MMO and no one thinks of those as an integral part of WoW or WoW game modes. But at least in Hearthstone you can talk to your friends via battlenet while you play. But please, do go on about how people shouldn’t be upset over a harmless content patch for the game they play that has so little content for the actual game as to be nonexistent.
Man dawg I can’t wait for the next top secret limited time event to be an extraction shooter in WoW, Counter strike in WoW, or mario kart in WoW.
I enjoy pvp. The problem is I main a warlock. I’m a caster. This kind of PvP isn’t fun for me. I can’t use familiar key binds etc. Combine that with people who insist on chasing me halfway across the map just to kill me instead of also farming plunder & I have a game I don’t want to play. I am a transmog and mount/pet collector & all the goodies for renown level rewards force me to choose between suffering through endless deaths or not get some of the best loot in the game (from my perspective). That’s my problem with Plunderstorm.
It does seem to be improving, though.
i would have happily run through 20, 25 games if it got me what i was after. i don’t want it instantly, but i would like a more reasonable timeframe.
it should be a permanent event imho. the pvp in this game is super dry so any OPTIONAL modes little extras wont hurt. what kills me is constantly removing content. just keep it and the rewards so ppl have things to do. why fomo every single thing?
ppl uninstalling over this event are LOL. this is why we never get taken seriously n they listen to ppl on twitter who are almost just as bad if not worse. speaks volumes abt us lol.
trust me nobody actually is. anyone complaining about having to grind 40 renown for the rewards is deeply addicted to the game at this point and the sunk cost will never let them leave.
People pay a subscription and it’s fine to complain about something you pay for going a way you don’t like. Now, the level people go is an issue, but for most it’s just not what they want and that is fine.
I personally think it is just badly done, but like the idea of different things. Would have much preferred that it was my character running around rather than something new, but oh well. Just do it better. It feels like a kids rip off to me, just very poorly done.
How much time did you waste in this mode?
If we give them too much flak for trying new things, they might stop. And that would be bad.
I generally won’t give them flak for trying something once. If they try something that didn’t work again in basically the same form, different story.
They just need to use common sense, which is not something, Blizzard Developers encourages to have, apparently.
The idea behind Plunderstorm is great, but making it an extreme form of FOMO with another gold/red transmog-set gated behind a grind, on top of PVP, is for many people simply not fun, although they want to play it.
