I was just running LFR, and an item dropped that was an upgrade for me. Unfortunately another hunter rolled need on it and won. Upon looking at his gear, he has full 385 equipped. It seems a bit unusual that someone can roll need on an item that they obviously don’t need? They did this on every piece of gear, even though they didn’t need any of it.
Also, when the Mystic Garnet Forgestone dropped, I was unable to roll need on it, and could only roll greed. Another hunter was able to roll need and they won it, but they had also won a chest earlier in the raid as well.
This seems a bit weird and I guess I just don’t understand the rules of the new loot system? I’ve only just come back from a break since Legion/BFA. What happened to the personal loot with re-roll tokens? That seems to be much fairer than what I just experienced…
That’s LFR for ya buddy. You have the lowest quality of humans all grouped together not just talent wise but attitude as well. Break away from that group of people take the time to learn your rotation and raid mechanics then start joining normal groups and work your way into heroic groups with voice and you’ll have a much better experience.
Yeah its a little weird. They tried to ‘fix’ it by adding in a guard so people couldnt roll on stuff they already had and/or higher Ilevel of, as well as not being able to win the same item twice if multiple drop.
It seems like this fix only works some of the time.
Which I don’t really care either way, as I dont mind people coming in looking to get Transmog while at the same time helping out people who arent as high geared and would likely struggle otherwise.
Just seems silly that they even bothered trying to ‘fix’ it when their ‘fix’ hardly works in the first place.
Actually not even that. Ever wonder why there’s that low geared, all green equipped, afk player in your LFR but if you check their account, they have multiple heroic clears on the same class? Yeah that’s right. That’s an aotc/ce raider on a throwaway same armor type afk alt farming LFR mogs and getting roll priority over you due to their deliberately low ilvl.
I used to be a progression raider until mid way through Cata when I couldn’t commit as much time to it anymore. I came back during the end of Pandaria and really enjoyed the relaxed gameplay.
At this point, unless raiding has changed since Cata, I’m still currently too busy to commit to a guild and raids. I guess the good news then is that I won’t need the gear because I am not looking to push progression or M+.
Thanks for the info everyone! I’m disappointed about the new loot rules, but it is what it is.
I run them sometimes,… need on 1 thing sometimes if it’s cool and don’t have… mostly need on nothing… but…hey I am running it… it is a random thing and !!!
Blizz made it group loot not me. I want personal loot back… if I don’t need/want I could trade to to anyone. Worked so well? Why do you think it got changed? Is it sinister? or … wish I knew.
That too.
But like, even I have been able to roll on things I A. Already have on and B. have higher item level of.
So dont even need to go in with greens.
Makes you wonder why they even bothered adding in the fix if it doesnt work.
Allowing people to run for Transmog helps encourage higher ilevel to help out the lowbies, which means less of the 53 determination groups on Raz in LFR.
Correct, PL is even worse for people wanting to gear up.
Which they are forced to do since they cant come with their mains anymore for transmog. This is the only way for them to obtain this transmog, but thats what you folks wanted.
Also, they dont get priority over anyone, they just get the same chance as everyone else.
It’s funny watching the extreme swing on what people want on the forums over the last several years since I came back in BFA. People complained about the amount of loot that dropped in BFA so they reduced it. People complained about the dailies so they reduced it. They complained about personal loot so they added back in loot rolls in raids. Now people are complaining about the opposite. They just can’t win with what they add into the game.
People who think that they are entitled to loot have always been the problem, and they will continue to be the problem regardless of the loot system we have in place.
If you want to do that for transmog, you would not only have to create a group of highly geared players, but you would also have to vet every single player and all their equipment slots to make sure there is noone in the raid who can need roll on the items, so the distribution is fair, which is pretty much impossible.
So yeah, with the new restriction for group loot, a new char is their only realistic option.
It might have seemed that way, but it’s not really. The only reason it seemed unfair is because you are rolling against another player and you can see the roll.
Would it be any better if there was personal loot but you had to click a dice roll to see if you actually won the item and you could see the roll? It would feel just as bad to lose those I think.
Best middle ground solution is to hide other players rolls from each other and who won the item.
Except they do get priority. That’s the whole point of using an alt that doesn’t have the same equivalent gear of higher ilvl. The OPs whole post demonstrates that. A low geared character is able to roll on items where the higher geared one can’t. The game is literally prioritizing characters based on whether they have obtained the same item of higher ilvl or not.
Oh, thats what you meant. Yeah, they kinda have priority over the highly geared players who dont come to LFR anymore, since they cant roll for transmog, but they have no priority over all the other lowly geared players.
Anyway, this priority shouldnt exist at all and all players should be able to roll on items from a boss they helped to defeat.
