Needing for your friends is still Ninja

It’s legit panic. It WILL be abused and with multiple people involved it won’t be labeled as “ninja looting”……… it needs to be removed.

How would you fix it?

damn some of you must have played on some awful servers, the fact that people are so worried about this random surge of ninja looter. In the 4 servers I played in from vanilla till now I encounter maybe 2 or 3 ninja looters and they weren’t even major ones rolled need on some boe that sold for nada on the AH.

From what I remember people use to do this to boes and blizzard made it so boes become bop when someone needed on.

Loot trading is just a new can of worms.

If you ninja an item in Deadmines or Ragefire Chasm you should consider yourself lucky that you can delete your character and reroll with a different name without investing months of your time into a worthless character.

People had zero tolerance for ninjas.

Those videos you see of ninjas are not “haha look at this guy ninja this loot, so epic XD” videos they are “Haha this person probably wants to kill themselves after getting caught ninja’ing an item since now everyone hates them and we have video proof of them doing it lets all laugh at the loser who thought it was a good idea to ninja an item hahahahahaha” videos.

I encounted few ninja looters in my time. Not enough to stress over. I had a short list of people who I would not run with. It’s not a huge issue. People who ‘ninja loot’ experience a hollow victory. Yep, they got some loot… the next time won’t be so easy…

Why just not put it on master looter and problem solved? That’s how we did in 2005.

Then they are going to be running dungeons with their guild and not pugging and trying to ninja gear

Most of the video you find on youtube aren’t 5 man ninja looter they are raid ninja looters. Again I say some of you are on some horrible servers for one I don’t think I couldnt take someone seriously if they were going on and on about someone need rolling in VC or RFC.

Not for pugging instances you didn’t, because the randoms you got to fill in the group want the same chance at boe rolls as everyone else. The only time it was ok for a pug leader to do that is if they suspected someone was a ninja or someone was promised a drop.

That’s also something ninjas would do. Get a group, then quietly set the roll to master before a boss fight, then loot all and dump the instance.

In my experience, if you changed it to master or did it during a run, you would see people drop group right then.

Raids are a whole different can o beans.

Whats vc??

No idea. The final boss of Deadmines has the initials EV.

Van clef depending on the server you were on some called deadmines VC for the last boss as no one actually used his whole name and just called him van clef

We just called him “West Fall Loot Pinata”

Server specific discord servers will make policing ninja looters much easier. I can easily see a channel dedicated to exposing ninja looters. Should be much easier than it was before due to how prolific discord is now a days.

Changing it afterwards is of course a no no.

As I remember it most people didn’t mind master when it was set from the start though.

I know. It was sarcasm. I call it DM. Cuz dire maul is DME/N/W/Tribute.

One of the things you put out in LFG or group chat when invited was loot type. I pugged A LOT, both cross server and before, and when people were invited the first thing they’d ask is “why is loot set to master?”

If you were paying for a 60 to blow through an instance for you that was one thing, but people expected to be allowed to roll on loot.

honestly , if youre concerned about loot , dont join a masterloot run especially if its stated before that its reserved loot.

of course then youll complain about there being no runs or some garbage.

now would be a good time to start practicing your group making skills and forming one yourself.

I recall running a few dungeons where the leader set it to ML, and it went well.

Of course there is the danger that the leader will ninja, but there are trustworthy people out there.
