At least you have all that championship stuff in your rafters. Try being in Vancouver. Even now with a glimmer of talent we still have the dumbest GM on earth selling the farm to make the playoffs in the weakest division.

Everyone knew why. That’s why they made Le Grand K out of specific material and so perfectly round and smooth- to minimize molecular loss. And they finally changed it because they made measurements precise enough to allow the kilogram (and the mole, ampere, and kelvin) to be defined by immutable universal properties. You seem to like to understand things poorly and then use that as an excuse to weave judgmental narratives about them.
By the way, what’s the basis for your “superior” pound-mass system? Oh, wait, the pound is legally defined as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. The metric unit is dumb? Well, your unit is literally a derivative of it.
And balance scales do exactly what they’ve always done: compare the mass of one object against the mass of a control object within a well-defined margin of error. Unless your balance scale had a yoctogram mass on it, it won’t be affected.
No, it’s about the correct measurements of mass. Weight is the force applied to a mass by the local gravitational gradient. It’s not an actual property objects have, but rather a relationship between a property of that object (mass) and its position in space-time. Or more accurately the relationship between an object’s propensity to be affected by gravity (passive gravitation) and the externally-imposed active gravitation in which it’s situated.
