Need advice on increasing FPS

How is it on silken court? I have issues in that web phase . 13900k and 4070ti super set at 138fps

While I agree, I havea 3080 and a 12th gen proc and I get solid 60 and I have vsync on at 4k so…something is wrong if his system is having so much trouble…then again I don’t max out all settings as so many do nearly nothing and murder fps.

What is the render scale set to?
What is antil aliasing set to?
In short…give us literally every setting in your graphics list and maybe someone can help you but until you do that it’s just gonna be a ton of guessing and questions.

Actually I do. That said there is a bit of a difference elsewhere in the system comparison I assume…that said 35 fps is really low.

Your operating system and graphics card drivers are up to date, right?

Also, make sure you’re running WoW the same as your monitor’s native resolution.

Here are screenshots of all my graphics settings.

What OP meant: Frames Per Second
Where my brain went: “Need advice on increasing First Person Shooter”.

Switch Spell Density to Dynamic. You do not need it on “Everything”. That’s killing major performance.

Turn off Triple Buffering.
I would also turn off ray tracing, I don’t think WoW is a game that really benefits from it.

Other than that, you are running 1440p so you definitely shouldn’t be capping at 30-40 fps even with ultra settings.

A couple things stand out to me.

Ground clutter has a very fast falloff because it causes effects to bounce off each other a lot more which causes slowdown. I recommend lowering ground clutter a little bit.

Turn off raytracing. Raytracing is still a massive performance trap and there is very little visual improvement.

If you have a 144hz monitor I recommend setting max FPS to 144.

FidelityFX is AMD software while you are using Nvidia hardware. I recommend setting it to DLSS.

Resample sharpness and ray tracing are the only things that stick out to me. Don’t really think you need either for WoW, but I could be wrong.

Up your target fps to match your foreground fps. Not sure if that is the issue but you don’t want target to be 60 if that is not your target.

Also I would down background but that is just me, if I don’t have wow up front I want it to save power.

edit: nevermind not checked.

This isn’t an option. It’s either FidelityFX or a much more antiquated bilinear resample technique. Even with Nvidia GPU, FidelityFX CACAO and Super Resolution is the right choice.

You’re right about the ground clutter.

Oops you’re right. My bad.

What is your nvidia driver version? Are you way out of date? Also, odd but I have seen it before do you have your internal graphics disabled? I would suggest doing so in bios. Have seen some very odd things with that.

Trust me, the Nvidia app (and Geforce Experience for people still using that) will “optimize” it all the way down to 40fps, no matter what hardware you have. Even if it has to use supersampling to get there. “Optimized” games are not allowed to exceed 40fps. If they do exceed 40, it will further increase supersampling to keep it down. That function in the Nvidia app is completely useless. It makes all games unplayable on all hardware, since 40fps is not playable. Completely disable the “optimization” and game scanning, and never look at that tab again, and the problem will be fixed.

So the graphics card will work fine without the APP or GeForce experience? I thought those were required, especially for updating to new drivers? If what you are saying is true, I guess that makes perfect sense why I am getting those results.

You don’t need the app or geforce experience, but the geforce experience software lets you update the driver easily. As Vralok stated, the “Optimize” function is awful 99% of the time.

Which is what exactly? I also saw an article detailing how GeForce Experience is tanking ppl’s FPS. I get a generous 50 FPS in Dornogal with my meager 10700k.

Yep…I use the Nvidia app to do things like record video, and update drivers. But I keep the “optimization” disabled.

Yeah…don’t use the app for anything but driver updates.

This reminds me of a common reddit thread in r/builapc. Are you sure your cable is plugged directly into the video card and not the motherboard?
