well, i was mage boosting people thru classic vanilla and classic tbc, for free. but i have really bad arthritis, to the point my fingers point in the wrong direction. it takes me awhile to type things as a result, so i requested people join my discord so i wouldnt have to type. there was always gabbing going on. it was very social. too bad they had to take that away. i had alot of fun. it was a positive feedback loop cause people were happy to be boosted for free. but i only did it up to and including sunken temple.
I’m glad you were doing that. We need more people like you. Unfortunately, we don’t HAVE a lot of people like you. Most of us are just trying to get some stuff done between putting the kids to bed and needing to go to bed ourselves.
We clearly had different experience. I have always been on a pvp server so u may be correct about that.
When vanilla classic launched there were articles written about how ppl in game were forming lines to take turms at some quest and how it showed how much more mature and friendly players are now. Thats just an example showing that ppl being more polite now, is the change.
The real difference i dont get is that back then, the excuse was immaturity. Becausenof so many littke kids playing. Whats the excuse now?
I think dual spec was one of the best features added to the game and I desperately miss it leveling my alts.
I want RDF for all of my characters, my healer, my tank, my dps. It is just easier for everyone involved. I’d prefer to level my pally as prot rather than ret, I really don’t like ret, but I also CBA to sit there and find healers when I need them. RDF solves that. I get to tank for people, people get a tank.
In fact, that little pally alt tank of mine quested and RDF’d her way to pugging, tanking, and completing 10m wotlk pug groups. Most of those players in that group would have never seen Arthas otherwise. I wouldn’t have known how to tank him or explain the fights to others in chat I hadn’t gone through the fight dozens of times on my DPS main.
A lot of people fail or refuse to realize how interconnected the player base, mains, alts, etc actually are. RDF opens a lot of opportunities not just for end-game players, but for those who are happy just getting to see the content. I’d love to run through ICC on my pally/resto druid again in Wrath. It would be great to host some 10m pugs as an alternative to those who don’t want GDKPs and actually would rather feel like they are contributing something to the raid more than gold.
This has been my experience. Tanks sometimes just want to log in a do some questing. They burn out on tanking. The real key, and hopefully this is something guilds will be able to to, is have plenty of classes with tank specs/gear so people can switch up.
maybe we could convince blizz to make a deluxe server, where you pay 10 bucks extra and they remove the nerfs to player boosting and level gap, and give us RDF with a nice completion bonus that is better xp than player boosting. it would be the best of both worlds.
or force non -tanks to spec tank, even tho they hate tanking. whee, isnt this fun
That would be them effectively having three versions of the game. I don’t think they would do that.
Or set in a city and stare at the lfg channel tyoing lf tank. Instead of beimg in an instamce playing with other people. . Weeee ismt that fun.
okay, 20 bucks extra. lol
Tanking dungeons is faaarr easier in wrath and with the addition of dual spec I don’t think it will be as much of a problem as it is now.
Your chances of getting a garbo tank increase exponentially, but they are so easy it hardly matters.
I’m still pro lfd though
Ok, but you don’t change a behavior by allowing the behavior to continue through the system that was allowing it.
If you remove the system, people automatically have to form a new behavior.
RDF was the root cause, as you admitted, so removing THAT, will create a new behavior path.
Will it be like what we had before? Maybe, maybe not. I’ll admit that. However, doing nothing about it maintains the status quo and solves nothing.
That’s not good for the longevity of the game.
C’mon, now. I’m pro RDF, but this is ridiculous.
The numbers for raiding are slipping because:
- people are taking breaks before the expansion
- people are leveling alts because of the buff
- people are waiting on fresh servers
- sunwell is actually hard and people have burned out.
None of those things mean people have quit.
oh boy. just wait till you see 1-60. its gonna be bad.
Less raiding since gear becomes largely invalidated in a few months?
But yes, I have seen a lot of quitting over RDF posts… which I was pointing out to the person I was replying to who said he did ‘t see any.
The playerbase has done that already.
If you are on a mega server, you have no realm community. You have a large pool of players who happen to be on the same realm in multiple layers.
This is a failed argument and supported BY NOTHING!!!
But I digress. You are entitled to your opinion and feelings.
But could those account for 100k players? I didn’t make that number up, the numbers are there.
My brother in Christ you play FERAL what do you meAN YOU NEED A TANK BROTHER YOU ARE THE TANK
It’s fair of you to say that. Layering does hurt realm communities. Fortunately, I play on Grob and the RP community is cool.
