Why is Necrolord the only covenant with a secondary ability that’s combat effective?
The shield is insane, makes you immune to CC, can be used to bait interrupts and avoid burst windows as well as stunting burst comps in their opener as they have to burn through an extra 30-40k HP.
Even the Kyrian potion heals for 20% HP and is put on CD until you’re out of combat but Necrolord can just re-shield themselves even while being focused or wtvr.
Just terrible game design. Seems to me that everyone in PvP just switched to Necrolord for the shield.
All of the covenant abilities are effective in combat. Sure necro shield is strong, but it’s arguably the weakest it has been so far in SL so it seems like an odd time to complain about it. Also kyrian phial is extremely valuable atm thanks to sepsis and sickle of the lion being broken.

i mean
venth teleport can be used to bait kicks, and nadja blind can extend chains or start setups
soulshape can provide burst mobility to classes that otherwise wouldnt have it, and also has paths to have it heal you every second its up
kyrian phial is basically dwarf racial w/ a heal built in and can do a variety of different things based on soulbind/path
they all have utility in combat, and necrolord isnt really an outlier here
It’s been nerfed in rated pvp to only do 25% hp, which I’d say puts it on-par with the kyrian phial. (20% heal, but removes curse/disease/poison/bleeds)
On top of this, the necrolord shield can be interrupted, meaning that while the phial can be MS’d, a fleshcraft can be rendered entirely wasted, even detrimental to certain circumstances.
That said, as far as I’m aware, nobody is hot-swapping solely for secondary covenant abilities.
Fox blink is great.
Venth door is good.
Kyrian potion is good but would be better if it reset in combat. Ripping off sickle/rip/rake/flayed or sepsis is excellent, though.

I can immune CC with necro shield.
Git gud.
You can immune root beam with NF blink, you can bug out warrior spear with NF blink
I really love people still being able to glitch out of it, yeah.
I can also do those with port, blink, step, necro shield.
But wait, there’s more!
Necro makes me feel like the zombie WoW makes me to be!
The phial needs to be usable on CD imo.
Beyond that none of them suck much worse than shield.
What you should really be complaining about are the reaction time one shots that make the dps flame me in lfg.
I dunno, Shield is not nearly as good for some classes that have really good defenses already IE Mage - Priest - Rogue etc. Night Fae is prob the best PVP covenant from a ability perspective as it’s extremely strong on mobility.
Main reason people go Necrolord is the insane pvp abilities - such as Necrobanner, Primordial Wave, Vanq Hammer Etc.
