No, it isn’t. It’s where they come from. You can’t whitewash history. It isn’t just about orcs either. Trolls and undead aren’t exactly good either. There were plenty of conflicts still occuring after the second war, and they didnt end. Orcs continued to encroach into Ashenvale as one example. A different Horde, huh? Like when they followed Sylvanas? Nah, they just got even worse.
What do you mean where they come from?
What have the Darkspear done?
Game long fight for resources. Nothing on the level of Garrosh nor Sylvanas. Are you suggesting there be no conflicts in game at all?
I guess Warcaft 3 didnt happen, huh? That was Thrall’s Horde. The Horde have always been used to drive conflict in the narrative. Blizzard has also mentioned this over the years.
That’s why it’s largely always Horde doing something to escalate the sitaution, and Alliance always reacting to it. It’s been a big complaint over the years. The Alliance have wanted to be more proactive. They started doing that in Legion, and suddenly Horde fans decided the Alliance was evil.
For me it’s less the lack of horde and more ow much I have to help Anduin. Why do I have to help Anduin? Did the Alliance ever have to go and do quests for Sylvanas over and over, having to chat with her and tell her how sorry you’re for her, and rescue her over and over? No, alliance only ever interfaced with her ting to kill her. Also I think a horde rogue saves SW 4 times. The rest of the horde saves SW 3 times.
Warcraft 3 did indeed happen and it was when Thrall established his Horde to be different from the old Horde and work with the Alliance.
In two big situations. The solution to that is don’t make idiots into Warchiefs.
That’s because Sylvanas is a psycopath, where as Anduin wants peace.
That doesn’t mean that we need to save Anduin again. We have enough to do with saving Baine all the time.
They didn’t have to make it that way though. The devs chose to make the Horde the punchable meanies, killing all of our lore characters. So now we have to do quests for the alliance ones. But we have done quests for Anduin since MoP. In fact we have Horde-only quests about helping Anduin in MoP. I don’t care about Anduin, he’s the enemy. Any expansion now he’s going to try to kill us again. And I really, really want to kill Jaina. Sh always gets away with everything.
You seem very hellbent on trying though the Horde were not always antagonistic Warcraft 3 and post Activision WoW prove this otherwise.
Also originally the 4th war was a response to Alliance antagonism with Genns attack in Stormheim being the Catalyst and then the Tree happened shocking and confusing even Metzen.
In Warcraft 3, we allied out of necessity due to the Burning Legion. Conflict broke out again by the time WoW Vanilla was released. We’ve been slaughtering each other ever since, until we ally again to fight another common threat. Thats why we’re all suck of the Horde vs Alliance narrative.
You’re right, they didn’t, but that’s how they’ve always written the Horde, as antagonists. Since they no longer write and develop two seperate campaigns for each faction, we now get this, where both factions get dragged along through the same story.
Sylvanas is a traumatised victim of abuse at the hands of a Human Prince who was put into the hands of a serial abuser of Women and most definitely does not suffer from Psychopathy.
Not completely. There have been further moments of working together. Sometimes against the Legion again. Sometimes against Arthas, even when the Horde went all crazy we both sides fought against Sylvanas and Garrosh.
I think they’ll always be conflict, but it should never again be on par with Cata/Mists and Teldrassil in BFA.
Let’s not even mention how drastically they changed her character to fit the new narrative. Completely 180’d her and made her out to be this… super (word that Garrosh used in the Hillsbrad quests).
They truly ruined Sylvannas during BfA and continued to ruin her throughout the entirety of Shadowlands. And Typical blizzard response to something nobody liked, they thru her under a rug and now she’ll spend forever in the Shadowlands because they won’t admit how bad of a disservice they did her.
I’m mainly sick of how they make it happen. The alliance is the default faction. Their characters are the protagonists (+thrall). We have occasionally even ave had to side with the alliance explorers’ league against the horde reliquary as horde. We’ve had to repeatedly save anduin and save stormwind as horde. Alliance never have to actually help anyone horde alligned, except that one quest everyone hates in Cata where we had to go around trying to save Thrall while his wife yells GO’EL GO’EL GO’EL!
What would you even do with a Horde focused expansion?
- We already went to Draenor (Orcs)
- We already beat the leader of the Scourge and made the undead free (Undead)
- We already fixed Zandalar (Trolls / Vulpera)
- We united the tauren tribes (Tauren)
- We fixed the Sunwell (BE)
Like, what would you do with a Horde-focused expansion? Horde characters outside of like Thrall and Baine are all horrible people too, so it’s not like they’re just goinna go out of their way to save everyone for funsies, where Ally is generic fantasy hero faction.
This, so much. He story should have been about learning to live with trauma. Instead of about… whatever the hell her story was. She was just used as a boogeyman for the alliance, her motivations were so poorly thought out.
Make something new, like they do for the alliance.
Like…?
The only Horde race that might care about a problem not affecting them is the tauren, possibly the BE if Alleria leaned on them.
This again, is pushing it towards an Alliance Narrative.
Why would Alleria need to “Lean on them”?
Why can’t the Blood Elfs do it themselves? Why must I always follow around an Alliance themed character instead of a Horde based one? Seriously, why bother having factions at this point if everything is just going to be painted with the Alliance colors and have us Horde players be slaves to it.
