Near-impossible to obtain raid trinkets

I have seen more of the “very rare” trinkets off of Neltharion than I have Rashok’s Molten Heart. What’s the point of having a “very rare” category?

I’ve lost the roll on Voice of the Silent Star like 9 times now, and it refuses to show up in my Vault. :\

Been raiding for months just sometimes collecting a piece of transmog every other week, and got accused of being a loot hog because I actually needed and won Anvil. Forced to trade it away because of whiners.

PUG raiding honestly treats me better.

I have Beacon to the Beyond on 2 characters where it’s actually mid and none on the characters where it’s bis.

I’m fairly certain Blizz is trolling its playerbase.

It’s dev trolling. There’s no reason to not have them role locked.

this is expected since there are 3 of them

Even accounting for that, my guild has seen 2 of Neltharion’s Call to Chaos drop and only 1 Rashok’s Molten Heart. I believe we’ve also seen 2 Beacon to the Beyond as well. Only one cloak though.

Wowhead data shows that it doesn’t really have a lower drop rate than other things from Rashok though so I think it’s just a case of bad luck. Our healers always make comments that the Molten Heart never drops so that’s probably why I’m so aware of it.

Anywho, since they lowered the drop rate on tier this patch, hopefully that means we’ll see more Molten Hearts.

my enh shaman i’m not sure if i want to play has beacon, bomb dispenser, and dice. my mw is still using s1 trinkets. my disc priest is using a junk shadow trinket and a spoils i got in a heroic dungeon right after she hit 70. it’s wild.

Silence! Thou shalt not speak ill of Rashok

Why? Because you have the trinket and it’s making you feel like a healer should feel to begin with?

I got heroic Beacon without ever setting foot in the raid…Seems easy to me :joy:

I’d be fine with them nerfing it even though I have one.

The big sad is all of the mythic+ healing trinkets kind of suck. Rainsong is mediocre and it’s the best one from mythic+.

Being in pug group every week, your chance to get the trinket about the same, meaning pretty low. You and other 4 healers and some dps will roll on it every single week.
Being in steady/guild group, your chance is getting higher and higher since others who outbid you before, wont bid anymore since they already have it.
Pug setting is worst for targetting loot drop.

Mana regen trinkets are always the best. Honestly though considering how good they made it they should not let dps roll for it.

Question: if you are hunting for one specific item via pugs, why would the chances change at all? Like when you target specific pieces you do so and try to maximize your chances by grouping with people who can help you out

If you are clearing a raid for the sake of just clearing it then you are looking at a clear for the raid, not a specific item from a raid
I get the frustration since as a DPS, way more competition for BiS gear - and that’s still within’ a guild setting, doing that in a pug environment you can’t really target specific items in that sort of a way

Should there be a token system? Kind of
It depends on the particular restrictions - it worked with fated raids since a) much larger loot tables, b) it was on a rotation, and c) it required A LOT of boss kills

Could there be one for this? Sure, but I don’t think folks would be particular happy to know “After 30 kills from a full clear I can get one (and only one) item” - so it might be a netpositive to not have a system like that in place due to it souring folks who feel its too little, who waste it, who get the item afterwards, etc.
I don’t think there’s a good solution to this, from a pug-perspective, that would be a net-positive to implement into the game so… your best option is probably join a guild and play with the same people so you know you’ll eventually get it

I’m pretty sure only healing specs can roll for it.

By dps I think they mean dps that have healing specs and change their loot spec for that boss to roll on it.

i promise that feels better than “after 30 kills from a full clear i still don’t have the item and may not get it at all”

You only really have a chance if your loot spec is set right anyway.

I don’t disagree with you, but you also missed my point

The token system implemented for the fated raids WORKED! And it was a massive improvement and benefit to both players and raiding as a concept as a whole … the problem is that it worked because of the restrictions, not in spite of them

Do you think, in good faith, that the playerbase at large would be happier having a system that took more work, to gain less, than just bad luck protection that they implement for certain items at times?
And note, I said “playerbase” - when implementing a change you have to look at the full scope of players, not just individual people

Do you think that folks would be happier to raid with restrictions rather than not have those restrictions be implemented? Regardless of whatever reward you get from it?
The catalyst recieves MASSIVE criticism for coming online ‘too late’ - why wouldn’t this system, when it also requires a huge degree of restrictions to even make it work in the first place when you have a MASSIVE loot table, to have even harsher restrictions due to having a smaller loot table?

I cannot, with how folks react to the catalyst coming in late, even begin to imagine that folks would be happy with a predeterministic system for one item … because all the focus would end up “I’m raiding and killing all these bosses and I only get ONE item?!”, regardless of items recieved along the way and the activity itself being part of the maindrive to do it

Sorry but no, I honestly don’t think it would be a netpositive - I think it might actually be what kills of raiding for a lot of people as an activity … which hilariously would make M+ even more popular since you “no longer need to raid”, since that’s how it would end up being viewed as (which did happen with the Fated raids as well, even if the focus lay more on the slime kitty debacle that no one actually ever cared about)
Again though, it would be a benefit to me … but I don’t think it would be for the game’s health overall (just to clarify my actual point)

Not sure why Dinars aren’t back. We’re really gonna have to wait until the last season for a possibility?? Blizzard stay dumb

Because dinars are their last resort. They’ll try anything to stay away from deterministic loot for real endgame content. Don’t you know “it’s more fun that way” ?

That’s why they believe decreasing tier will suddenly resolve the issues with other loot not dropping (it won’t).
