What if they added Glyphs in that would change your characters dance?
You could have different Glyphs for different dance moves.
Again Glyphs. You could have a Glyph for each races dance moves and then Blizzard could add some new ones as well. You want a NE with a Goblin dance? You got it. You want a Tauren with a NE dance? You got it. And so on and so on.
If they added a Dance Studio then they could just have a Vendor there to flat out sell dance moves (at a reasonable cost of course). Also, put a type of “dressing room” in so you can test out the new dance before you purchase so you can know whether you actually want it or not.
stop. just stop. play a different race then, or a different game. Or you know maybe don’t /dance!!! These threads are getting realllllly annoying and this is coming from someone who supports massive change at Blizzard after what happened but there is a line somewhere and this isn’t it.
Just want to say that I think saying ‘I feel uncomfortable and would like a choice’ should NOT be followed by a bunch of attacks or accusations.
Those doing the attacks and accusations are exactly the sort of folks I would consider the true trolls here. I think pointing out that the dance in question is not an association to stripping is also quite valid but beside the actual point being made.
A person said they were uncomfortable and it would be nice to have options. Having played on games where toons can learn a variety of dance moves, it’s not an impossible task of coding.
But from personal experience, there will always be jerks who will see it as ‘sexy’ and use it as a point of harassment. That being said, almost anything could be interpreted that way, but everyone comes from a different set of experiences in RL and different triggers get established. What I might find ‘meh’ and ignorable others might find really distressing.
The real issue is that consideration of others and others’ opinions is all too often ignored and let’s face it, trampled. I think Criquet put it quite well and should be commended for it.
I myself won’t play female NE due to the bouncy issue. It’s not a comfort thing for me, I just dislike the look.
My god murdering, reality championing retribution paladin smashing some Bee Gees offends me, but here I am cranking some sick disco moves in full plate.
No, the dance should not be removed, however, we should have the ability to opt out of “friendly control effects” such as the flute that makes people dance, the priest spell that pulls allies, etc., and we should be able to do it without having to use an item to achieve that. Personally, it irritates me to no end when another player controls my character outside of PvP. Outside of PvP my character should, in every aspect be under my control and ONLY my control.
I’ve had a ton of female gnomes over the years. If the FBI did a hard drive check on everyone who asked me “how old is ur gnome?”, they’d get nothing else done.
Honestly, and this is coming from someone who does want to see the general culture of gaming change, agrees that there’s discrimination in the industry and that the developers can at times be gross and take things too far…
I don’t see a problem with this one. If your clothes disappeared off your body while you did it? Okay. If a pole appeared for you to grind on and twirl around? Yeah. But this is just a dance, based on some french chick who had a viral video way back in the day. It sounds like more of a problem with the people that you play with, and feel free to tell them “No, and stop asking, I’m not comfortable with that.”
I kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind of feel like this might be an attempt to go “These complainers keep complaining about innocent things, I’m gonna post on a female NE character pretending to be mad about their dance and get people to see how ridiculous the things ‘they’ want are!” though.
Honestly, you sound like a rich, privileged white girl using the language of the actually oppressed to shield yourself and your ideas from ridicule… which is just another form of colonialization.
If you don’t like the dance, that’s fine. As long as you aren’t advocating for its removal, you can have your opinion.
In any case, I’m down for being able to choose between dances. Although it might be a bit unwieldy to make that an interface option to ensure it triggers for toy effects vs what would probably be easiest and make more sense for general use – adding more emotes. /dance, /dance2 etc.
