I love me some Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2. The soundtracks for those games were the best. They just keep popping up in my head after all these years.

Right now I play mostly old console games on emulator such as…

Zelda Ocarina of Times (Currently a hack of it called Master of Time or Randomized rom online co-op with friends).

Zelda Majora Mask (Mostly randomized rom)

Ogre Battle 64.

Paper Mario TTYD (Using hack code to give enemy more stats to make it more challenging).

Harvest Moon Back To Nature.

skies of Arcadia Legends.

And some online play of Mario Party 2 and 3.

Baldur’s Gate II: Shadow of Amn

I revisit it every few years.

I can cheese Demogorgon and kill him in one hit, ask me how!

Mine is on my phone… honestly wishing Square Enix would just give that game the same type of HD Remake treatment they gave FF7 recently, instead of porting it to literally everything including a toaster and hamster wheels… at the very least, it DID get a sequel in the form of Chrono Cross back in 1999 (ironically) – while not as well received, it was much better than most sequels of other games… Xenogears is another underrated obscure gem…

I can cheese Dream Devourer’s last phase by HEALING it… gotta love those old-school overflows!

I can’t deal with older games unless I have some nostalgia tied to them.

But my ā€œbig 2ā€ nostalgia games aren’t really fun to me anymore. They’re too easy, or I know them too well, maybe both. They’re no longer engaging.

So I don’t play any older games, not counting stuff like WoW that’s ā€œoldā€ but still updating.

You sound like the sort of person I should mention Xenosaga to.

…I don’t recommend not playing Xenosaga.

I can’t play any console game now without using emulators, but I have watched video after video of all three episodes including gameplay… I am of the (unpopular?) opinion that both gears and Xenoblade Chronicles X were the best games of the whole series, as those were the ones where mechs had the most playability / exploration / et cetera… the story in saga 1-3 was somewhat compelling, but like gears it suffered to at least some degree due to being rushed toward the end…

Paperboy, the atari console.

Also war, the atari console.

Now that’s a game with some serious grinding. I fell asleep in my chair and woke up to find that my character was dead and I’d lost like half a level.

I didn’t realize that they had reopened western servers.

It barely came out before WoW, but I’ve been playing City of Heroes lately. It scratches an itch that WoW doesn’t with its character planning/IO builds.
