INXS - The One Thing
The Fixx - Red Skies At Night
I donât think this one can define anything other than the cheesiness of the era. Itâs terrible, but itâs so 80âs that I love it.
Graduating from High School in 1985, Pet Shop Boys always kind of summed up the 80âs for me.
All of these are great! It is so weird that some of them are still played on the Muzak where I work in 2022; in 1986 they were not playing some Dean Martin song from 1950 on the Muzak where I worked. Iâm also pretty sure that in 2059 you wonât be hearing Kanye West, or whatever, on the Muzak at some store. But you still might be hearing some of this stuff from the '80s.
Wow, ABC âPoison Arrowâ and Nu Shooz âI Canât Waitâ, I remember those bands and songs. Its kind of weird the ones you donât really think about but instantly recognize when you hear them. I went to so many parties back then where MTV was always just âonâ and they played âMusic Videosâ constantly.
I saw Pet Shop Boys a few years ago in Miami Beach and it was nice seeing a wide variety of people at the concert. Young to old, it didnât seem to matter. Itâs funny your mentioning of Muzak because youâre right. In the 80âs I was definitely not hearing Dean Martin while walking around the grocery story. The classic station my dad listened to primarily played stuff like the Beach Boys, Dion, The Temptations, etc⊠I have an office I go into on a daily basis and they play the 80âs channel on Sirius/XM. Kinda odd being in a professional office and Welcome to the Jungle comes on. lol
Wow - I remember where I was and what I was doing when I first heard this song and thought it was fantastic!
I also remember the moment when Iâd heard it so often that I hoped Iâd never hear it again. So, you know, thumbs up!
The professor in the video was an actual professor at a university. According to VH1âs Pop-Up Video, he regretted being in the video. For years, when students passed by, they yelled out, âScience!â
The decade saw major socioeconomic change due to advances in technology and a worldwide move away from [planned economies]
This is a song is about being victimized by control subsystems. By foreign exploitation this foretold the incursion of the Gulf War.
Hypnos is usually the fatherless son of [Nyx]), although sometimes Nyxâs consort [Erebus] is named as his father. His brother is [Thanatos] Both siblings live in the underworld ([Hades] or in Erebus, another valley of the Greek underworld. According to rumors, Hypnos lived in a big cave, which the river [Lethe]) comes from and where night and day meet. His bed is made of ebony, on the entrance of the cave grow a number of [poppies]and other soporific plants. No light and no sound would ever enter his grotto. According to [Homer], he lives on the island [Lemnos], which later on has been claimed to be his very own dream-island. He is said to be a calm and gentle god, as he helps humans in need and, due to their sleep, owns half of their lives.
Thank you for posting that. Definitely one of my all time favorite songs.
