This might be a stupid question but I can’t seem to find an answer in any of the many videos I’ve watched and guides I’ve read.
Four players are marked with the blades and they are supposed to make a square, or at least stay within 8 yrs of eachother. This happens twice. Then comes decimate. Do the players that are marked move in front of the cosmic sims or behind them? From my understanding, the boss fires a line through the marked players but it isn’t clear if it works if you’re in front of the cosmic sims or you have to be behind.
Hopefully that makes sense.
On Heroic, I’ve always seen each one directly behind me get destroyed, even if I was the only one in that direction. It isn’t a wide line though, so covering multiple that may not be in a perfect line from the boss is still necessary. The further they are from the boss, the fewer steps out of position it takes for it to miss.

Decimate pierces all targets in its line/direction, so being in front of (as well as in line with) the images you want to destroy is fine.

Infront. The line will continue through the players and hit simulacrums behind them.
Perfect, thank you! Now I don’t have to scramble to run behind lol. I figured that couldn’t be right.
Later sets require you to hit simulacrums spawned by previous blades that you would never have the ability to reach due to the puddles. So yeah it’d be horrendous
