Mythic Raiding Needs To Change

Private Auras were an attempt to curb mechanic trivialization by limiting what can automatically be solved with a Weakaura. However a key consideration was overlooked in doing so: quite often a programmatic solution has been a requirement, because of how encounters have been designed (while the interface has remained stagnant).

Need to spread six 25 yard bombs in 6 seconds on Neltharion? Good luck self-organizing without any tools. Need to assign 20 players around Fyrakk for bombs based on a random color assignment in 6 seconds? Good luck self-organizing without any tools.

Nothing was added to the user interface to help us, and we’re expected to wing it for such punishing coordination checks? Focus the development effort on providing us tools to do what you expect us to. You can’t introduce Private Auras and make no improvements to the user interface.

This has to be one of the biggest issues of mythic raiding this expac. They want remove weak auras then keep the fights tuned as if weakauras are still working. The pre-nerf size of the circles that you had six seconds to somehow communicate to go in separate directions was ridiculous. I can’t agree more that if they want to make things private auras then they need to do a better job with the UI for players. Not just UI but also the choice spell effect colors for some fights are atrocious like Nymue.

I think another good example of this is Enchanted Dust. It was nerfed to stop working on raid bosses sometime during the end of the last tier. This item was great for making it so you can see through the boss if they were oversized and blocking their own mechanics. I think the best example of this is Raszageth whose huge wings blocks players from seeing some mechanics and I can’t say I am looking forward to season 4 Raszageth for that reason. So they removed the enchanted dust while providing no solution for the visual obscurity.
