The title. Mythic plus and raiders should have to do PVP for progression. Maybe lock some soulbound ingredient for crafting so they need to do it to max out their gear.
Pvp and blizz doesn’t want to put resources into it because of this. So forcing the endgamers to do it will increase participation AND it will only do good for pvp as a whole.
I agree. Epic Crafted pvp gear maybe not, but actual gear bought with conquest should be hero track. Hero track drops like candy from M+ anyways, literally wouldn’t hurt anything.
PvPers are the ones that wanted raiders out of PvP in the first place. Back in the old days, there were tons of crossover players because gear could be used in both modes. PvPers cried because raiders would come in with better gear and destroy them, and so Blizzard gave PvP its own special little corner to play in and left them alone, which meant raiders and crossover players left it alone too. You don’t get to complain about something you wanted in the first place.
We PvPers hated it back when we had to do PvE to get geared up for PvP, no reason to force that same thing on the raiding lads.
People shouldn’t be forced into it, if Blizz want’s to increase PvP participation (I dont think they actually care for the record) they should increase cosmetic rewards and make the on-ramp for PvP gearing quicker and easier for people to get into.
PvPers wanted PvE gear out of PvP, not PvE players… those are two very different things.
Which killed the game mode, because crossover players didn’t want to start from the bottom halfway through the patch when they were looking for something else to do in between raid logs. So crossover players stopped participating. It was a case of PvPers overvaluing how much the general playerbase actually cared about PvP.
Yeah I agree coming into PvP mid or late season when everyone else is in full conquest gear is a huuuuge hurdle.
Which is why I said they should make PvP gearing much quicker and easier so folks like that can jump in late season. Or better yet bring back templates but improve them. They had a decent idea with them but bungled the execution, and instead of fixing the issues they just tossed the whole thing out. Still one of their biggest fumbles with PvP imo.
You’re not grasping the fundamental reason PvEers don’t want that lol. Raiders and now M+ers spend weeks-months grinding and itemizing their gear. To go into a different part of the game and be told “you don’t get to use the gear you worked hard for, here’s the same gear everyone else has” isn’t satisfying. It’s antithetical to the RPG genre at a base level and that doesn’t resonate with the majority of the playerbase.
Just to make sure I understand your point correctly, you want BiS PvE gear to be on par with BiS PvP gear.. or better than BiS PvP gear?
The former would be just fine IMO. And I think most PvPers would be fine with that. Not sure on like a mechanical level how they’d do that, unless they got rid of versa or something. But if they could sure, that’s just fine.
The issues in the past were when PvE gear was better than PvP gear for PvP activities. That was silly, dedicated PvP players shouldn’t be forced into raids and dungeons to get gear for PvP. BiS PvP gear should come from PvP activities. And vice versa btw, which is why I disagreed with OPs suggestion. I don’t think PvE lads should be forced into PvP to get gear for PvE. But if their raid gear was on par with PvP gear so they could jump right in, sure that’d be great, more the merrier!
One thing I think PvPers never really accepted from a macro level is that WoW at its core is a PvE game. PvE is always going to come first. People who only PvP have never been happy in this game because the game isn’t made for them. And in the decade and a half of complaints and pushing to make the game mode “for them”, they alienated everyone else away from playing it.
I get that it sucks that Blizzard has pretty much abandoned it at this point, but when you do everything in your power to push away the majority of the players from your activity, that’s the result.
I am very much aware of this lol. Yeah I’m just one dude I don’t represent the whole PvP community ofc, but yeah WoW is most obviously a PvE game first. Back in the day it was raiding and nowadays raiding+keys are the main drivers of end game activities.
I have never once tried to push anyone away from PvP. Nor have I seen any of my in game friends or guildies do as such. I’m sure it happens to be clear, but it’s not all of us lol.
My only position about PvE vs PvP is as stated above. PvP folks shouldn’t be forced into PvE to get geared up for PvP activities. And same thing for PvE, they shouldn’t be forced into PvP to gear up for PvE. I think that’s a pretty fair stance.
I want as many folks quein up as possible. Lower que times, more folks to group with, the more the merrier.
