Honestly, Blizzard really needs to seriously consider giving some kind of incentive to healers and tanks for Mythic+. At the start of the season, having to wait a long time just to form a +10 group says a lot about how bad things are right now…

Realistically the solution to getting more people to play tank is to greatly simplify threat generation (basically make it impossible for tanks to lose aggro once pulled) and make dungeons a bit easier to understand. Honestly might be time to have the discussion about removing skips altogether, but that’s quite a sensitive topic amongst some players.

Almost like all specs can usually fill healer or tank.
Priests can heal 
Boom you and OP can duo! finding DPS is the easy part lol
Just give people willing to tank or heal a full suite of high ilvl gear.

I do heal. I got sick of waiting for healers and decided to try it out myself. Highly recommend for OP. And if he makes excuses, consider that every other DPS player likely touts the same “excuse”.

You really can’t just swap specs. You have to have the gear for it, and preferably experience. I heal with my characters.

It is somewhat amusing when you sit down and think about it.
One of the largest hurdles to get new tanks is the amount of extra know how a tank requires to path properly, something many people just dont want to do.
But that conversation is always shot down in favor of “just make tanks 100% self reliant so they dont need the group!” sort of arguments instead.

No you don’t lol. Especially if you’re just going into 0s or low keys. You don’t need to perfectly optimize secondary stats and trinkets to give it a shot. That’s a poor excuse.

This has nothing to do with that. It’s a downstream issue of lack of gear.
Just play a tank
If they make this game any more dry consider one more tank out of this pool to pick from.

I’d love to resume tanking again. The problem is that it is a struggle upstream to get gear to even do DPS let alone tanking. The problem is gear is too hard to get.
Most of your gear’s stats will adjust to the spec you are. If you’re playing a resto druid, your int will swap to agi if you go guardian. I think the only exception to this are trinkets and weapons. And for those, you can buy some greens off the AH or go look for some WQs.
I’m not saying jump into 10s, but you can definitely give some 0s or low keys a shot with less than optimal gear. It’s a bad excuse.

I can play tank, but having to always play tank or healer just to get a key going at a reasonable pace is honestly frustrating. Not because I don’t like the role—I actually enjoy it—but I also like playing DPS classes.
Trying to set up a +10 and having no tanks show up at all is just awful…

The gap of gear from leveling 80-90 and 90 to any other tier is the worst it has ever been. That gap is a problem. It causes a cliff when you hit 90 and people wanting to play as tanks or healers are scared off.

Nothing will incentivize people to take on additional responsibilities when they can just go DPS. Tanks and healers will inherently always be less popular.
