Mythic+ difficulty is insane right now

currently it’s “i’m dead” being used as a way to say “lol” that gets on my nerves

What exactly is difficult about M+ currently? These posts are always awfully vauge. What dungeons are insanely difficult? What parts of those dungeons are insanely difficult?

Sure, but this doesn’t change the relative difficulty. The healer has to do all those things, plus healing.

I’m not sure why people are so defensive about this. I love playing my prot warrior. It’s fun - but it’s not nearly as hard as playing the MW.

I dont play the highest level keys so take what i say with a pinch of salt but, in my opinion all the roles are roughly equal in difficulty to each other in the low to mid key range. I dont think people are being defensive about healer vs dps difficulty, they have a different opinion. And thats okay.

I’m not really defensive i’m just in the position of having played both roles at a decent level so i can actually compare (healer and DPS).

I never tanked at a relevant level so i def won’t comment on that role.

I just think its silly to play a team game and either expect to be put on a pedestal cause you’re doing the role you signed up for or invalidate your teammates efforts cause they fill a different one. You can’t push while dragging someone along if you do keys near your skill ceiling, regardless what they play.

Edit : and honestly more than silly, its toxic and counterproductive as you’ll develop the habit of blaming your teammates when things go wrong rather than analyze your own gameplay and that’s absolutely the best way to stagnate and get stuck in the “elo hell” loop.

And almost nothing on planet earth irritates me as much as the people that say “bro” 5 times in a sentence that should only be 3 words long.

That’s even worse when it’s a 2-minute cooldown like Tranquility. Yes I know I could be better at predicting certain mechanics, but that makes me rage.

Isn’t…that…the…point? Higher levels should be more challenging. If whatever key level is too hard for you, you are in luck. You can always run lower keys.

This exactly.

People worry way too much about what people in their pugs are doing instead of focusing on improving their own gameplay. Then they get stuck in a terrible key range with equally terrible players (and they’re so focused on what everyone else is doing and don’t realize they aren’t much better themselves) and think of everyone else like a retail worker thinks of their customers.

Please try melee at a reasonable difficulty where you’re expected to produce high dps and interrupt and stun while avoiding an abundance of swirlies, dodging frontal cleave mechanics, moving out of short range aoe, moving away from charge mechanics that target ranged players, running out of combat and towards ranged players who aren’t clearing thundering, etc etc.

Everyone has to move, everyone has mechanics to contend with.

Pick a dungeon, spend the day queueing for lower level keys and learn the dungeon. Read about the dungeon. Progress key levels in that dungeon. Affixes don’t impact pulls by that wide of a margin…just run the same dungeon 6-10 times until you learn the timing. Progress on key difficulty as you feel comfortable with the pulls.

Now 2 days later pick another dungeon and it then same way from the ground up.

Within 2 weeks should be should comfortably versed in the pool and can probably execute a 10 key with little issues in your role.

Yea the mechanic load is high. No it’s not insurmountable. Yea you need to have more than the tank do mechanics.

Playing heals or tank will also vastly improve your knowledge of mechanics. There is not a single dps only mechanic that I can think of, meaning something that dps specifically have to deal with and heals/tank cannot assist. Maybe the 2nd boss to RLP?

Some dungeons are pretty awful. Vaults comes to mind and the green serpent combo on the third boss in temple gets ridiculous on tyrannical.

I’m finding 18-20 to be absolutely From Software level difficult with pugs. I don’t really do static groups though, I’m sure they’d be fine that way. My skill level is fairly mid, though–I’m super ADHD and can’t take the medications for it.

The difference is you don’t ever have to cancel any of your damage throughput for movement. Casters do. I even have to cancel my throughput to interrupt, which I end up having to do just as much as any melee.
