My thoughts on World of Chorecraft

I see this said now and then, like some perennial fall back, kneejerk reaction.

Just because its been done before, doesnt mean that its ok, or right, or the best thing to do in every circumstance going forward. When you grind grain to make flour it is the most tedious, boring thing in the world to do. When we advanced as a race and invented mechanical means of grinding, I guarantee you everyone who had to do that wheat grinding pumped a fist and thanked the gods. There is nothing at all fun about a grind. And if everyone playing WoW agreed with you, then we wouldn’t have what we have now - a rapidly diminishing playerbase. And Im not guessing at that; my own main guild has gone from 20 or more people on in prime time to 3. And every other guild I am in on other toons, Horde and Alliance, is the same.

If all those people felt as you do, that the game is fine, then things would not be as they are now.

If you think that the constant ongoing rolling list of chores is an ok way to develop the game design, Blizzard will love you. Because you are exactly the kind of player who will be happy with it as more and more layers of chores are added. They wont bother to find creative alternatives, they’ll just feed you more of the same.
