Blizz chooses to have artificial scarcity.
I don’t have infinite time to collect everything. This isn’t Pokémon. I miss out all the time.

Which caters to…whom exactly?
Not to me. I’m just a filthy tourist. Probably to whales and gosu neck beardians

You got me there. I didn’t do MoP remix for a few reasons, mainly I just couldn’t care any less. So I assumed “lemix” was harder since everyone is complaining of it. I wouldn’t put MT in remix if people will just smash it. MT is supposed to be a challenge. If I’m going to get that stupid pixelated blue cat that I drool over for the last 7ish years because I’m childish like that and admit it, then I’m gonna work for it.
Person A: Finally, I got that trophy. That was tough, but I earned it.
Person B: Hey! I want it too! It looks cool!
Person A: You weren’t even in the tournament?
Person B: Yeah, and? It looks cool. I want it too. Why do you get to have that and I don’t?
Person A: … because I put in the work and effort at the time this trophy was available to get?
Person B: Oh just stop… I was binge-watching a show, okay? Life happens!
Person A: It was a time-limited event. You can’t get it anymore. Sorry.
Person B: Limited? That’s such FOMO nonsense! Ugh!!! Just give it to me already!! Nobody should have something I can’t!!! Because my feelings say so!!!
Person A: How about you get motivated to earn it next time?
Person B: That’s so elitist of you to say! You just want to feel special!!! You’re so self entitled!!
Person A: Um, I am special. I earned it.
Person B: GIVE IT TO ME NOW! EVERYONE DESERVES TO HAVE IT!
Person A: I’d rather preserve meaning.
Person B: Meaning is overrated!!! JUST GIVE IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE
The amount of people misinterpreting this post is actually insane
I tend to agree. Those types shouldn’t be catered to imo.
You took all the time to type that instead of taking the time to read the post and realize that’s not even what’s being said here.
Or…and hear me out…Person B already has said item and thinks it’s stupid to keep it locked away and pathetic that anyone ties any “value” to it.
So just because you already have it, you think it’s meaningless… and now everyone else should be forced to see it that way too?
I see…
I love how they purposefully completely ignored the fact that the whole point of this is allowing players to EARN it.
Sure, there are a lot of people screeching and begging for things for free and think they’re entitled to everything in the game because they want it. I’m not one of those people.
But at the same time, the game has been around for like 20 years, it’s not always a case of “I was just lazy and didn’t do this so now I’m gonna throw a fit” there’s been a massive influx of new players that WANT to play the game and EARN items. They should be allowed to do so. It’s much healthier for the longevity of the game if content isn’t constantly being locked behind time gating.
If you don’t have much else in your life to tie worth to I guess rented pixels are the next best thing…
But what if it went like this instead
Person B: I was 10 at the time and can barely do anything but quest. How was I expected to be able to get these rewards?
Person A: Well it’s your parent’s fault for birthing you so late. Git Gud scrub.
There are quite a few different things that could of interfered with someone unlocking MT rewards. Why exactly would it be such a horrid thing to reintroduce MT permanently in retail?
Never understood what that point was trying to make.
When you check your bank balance online do you think your money is it just “pixels on a screen”?
If you get an email at work telling you you’re fired is it just “pixels on a screen”?
What is the grand point people are trying to make with that line? I see so many people use that line thinking its some, deep, grand philosophical argument.
I’m sure the likes Socrates, Descartes, Berkeley, Kant, Nietzsche when they wanted to win an argument pulled out the old “its just ink on paper” trick.
They NEVER see it that way. It’s always straight to “yOu JuSt WaNt It FoR fReE”. Every single time without fail.
They also lack any sense of empathy. Anyone that ties their self worth to these pixels have deep rooted problems to begin with.
I’ve always said a mog item (weapon or set) is cool because it’s COOL not because it’s “rare”. It’s a deep rooted problem in the psyche.
if they remade the content to be the same difficult as before I dont see a problem, but people dont want that they want to one shot the thing until it drops
Dismissing something as “rented pixels” doesn’t erase the effort, time, or meaning people attach to it. Value isn’t about what it’s made of… its about what it represents and for many, that representation is personal achievement. If that’s meaningless to you, fine. Doesn’t mean it should be meaningless to everyone else.
It frustrates me when people attach the FOMO label on anything that has a time-limited reward. Time-limited rewards are valuable because they celebrate effort, timing, and participation in a specific moment. A sense of legacy “I was there, I earned this.” That kind of meaning adds depth and keeps achievements feeling special.
At the same time, I’m in favor of recolors or alternate versions. They let people earn something similar without erasing the value of the original. It respects both the history and the future of the game.
You can walk into a back and manifest those “pixels on a screen” into real tangible money.
There is a real life consequence to those “pixels on a screen”. You will be escorted off the campus and not allowed to return. You will no longer receive a real payment.
What can I physically do with anything related to wow? Can I cash them in? Can I manifest a real weapon that looks like this because I “earned” it in wow?
Like I said, a deep rooted problem in the psyche.
What happens when the wow servers shut down for good? Are you going to print pictures of your MT weapons and tell people “hey look what I EARNED at one point in time”?
Also how would it affect you in any way if they’re brought back?
