My Opinion after returning to WoW after a long break

It is very simple! Blizzard it is now way past time for you to have started building World of Warcraft 2! With all of the technology we have today it is possible to have a new game on PC and Consoles. After playing games like Crimson Desert and Black Myth Wukong I find myself wanting to play in the WoW Universe with a modern graphics over haul. WoW is still fun as is, but its so dated now it really is time to build a new game. I hope you have been building one secretly for years now, but I am sure you have just been milking the cash cow. Those games were fun, but they would be better with live players all over instead of NPC’s. Time to make it Happen! I woulod be happy with a Classic series complete remake on a modern Game engine that would be cool as well. I just want to see the game I love and gameplay I love looking better than ever.

Where did I say UR5? Try reading it next time I simply said a Modern Game Engine there are many and Blizzard could also build an engine themselves. So the door to leave the forums is that way since you cannot read the actual posts:P

Ah, you’re one of those "I didn’t specifically state this " people aye?

We all know what you’re asking for and I simply used UE5 as a general example.

I read your request and would humbly advise to try following this path. :backhand_index_pointing_right:

Okay, so I know this is a bait post, but the game’s art style today is why it’s remained popular at all for 21+ years. We’re not overhauling and using ugly, realistic graphics. You have so many options for this, go play those games.

I can say for absolute sure that this may be alright for new players but many if not all of us veterans sure as heck would not like having to redo everything because blizzard wanted to make a sequel. They’d have to let us move our stuff over but at that point it’d be easier and cheaper to just make another expansion

Totally agree, let alone realism suffers from being outdated much sooner than stylised.

WoW’s art style is perfectly fine as it is, all I’d say they need to do is update all the past zones to meet the graphical fidelity of the more current expansion zones.

I would like more polygons and better textures, but I like the general art style of WoW. I wouldn’t want hyper real just better models and textures.

You propose Blizzard spend at least $1 billion for a marginal benefit risking losing their customer base.

Haha!

It would fall flat on its face, this current team hates its player base and supplies shoddy work.

They only have jobs off the backs of those who built a better game in the first place.

It would split the playerbase and Blizzard would have to support 2 seperate games. And before anyone claims it won’t. look at WoW/Classic WoW. Look at the feedback for updated zones in Cata, and updated character models. There is a small chunk of folks that prefer the old. They would go back to WoW 1

Now imagine this community of stuck in their ways 30-40 year olds doing one or both of the following.

  • Believe the development of one game does not take from the other.
  • Possibly being forced off one version because it was dropped for the other.

It would play like garbage

With modern technology, I think the original wow team could do it, but I don’t believe the current wow team has the capabilities. The game feels like it’s more or less in maintenance mode, just making as much cash as it can.

Unlikely.

If anything it’s becoming more and more likely Classic+ will be the big announcement at Blizzcon this year, and that will be your “WoW 2.”

I don’t see retail changing drastically aside from evolving on the seasonal system.
