I am going to do this
Key thing about Tanking is staying ahead of everyone, ahead of the next pull, ahead of the actual position of your team, ahead of who gets to attack first on the mobs, everything. That’s very intimidating when you’re uncomfortable with the place or the role, but you’ll get into the rhythm with practice.
Welcome to the team.
PS - Let those stupid little Mages kick rocks.
If they spank it they tank it. Always remember, DPS are easily replaceable.
Warriors have it rough in five man dungeons. Paladins and Druids have it much easier. Tried tanking Ramparts on my Warrior one time and was like “nah man, I’m good”
Then tried on my Druid and realized how much easier it is.
What if they apologize sincerely after running to the tank?
Asking for a friend.
Yes.
- Insist on voice comms (Discord, in-game etc) so you can focus on managing the group by talking, and using your hands to fight the mobs.
Learn the dungeons, the pulls, the mechanics.
Mark a kill order, explain markings. Let DPS die after the fact if they can’t follow direction.
Learn your tool kit.
Don’t take Sh!+ from anyone but the healer.
/Who class & level is faster than LFG spam.
Grab a healer, dps are a dime a dozen.
I mean, there is a difference between accidentally pulling something and just constantly pulling ahead of the tank.
No respect for tanks, can’t even hold threat from single corruption.
Some of us have more accidents than others.
I blame my pet for growling.
I mean, if you’re pet is pulling extra things by growling, I have to wonder if you aren’t tab targeting things that weren’t pulled.
I want to speak to my lawyer.
Ion is unavailable right now, he’ll see you after 11.0 is fixed.
Ion can kiss my raider dot io.
The Raider dot io free trial has been discontinued. You must now purchase Blizzard dot io.
This is something we need to spread to DPS, if you pull aggro, don’t run around like a headless chicken, drag that mob back to the tank so they can pull it off your face without scattering all the other mobs that they gathered up.
Just talk to your healer. It is OK to let dumb dps die. They either learn or they leave the grp with some dumb comment like “Tank better noob” etc etc… You can’t save everybody, so save your healer and dps will figure it out.
So… never?
I wouldn’t say never. More like when he quits.
This.
Respect your healer unless he is being a jerk. Dps giving you lips? you can safely /ignore them (they’re insignificant). Find a smart dps who has discipline, uses interrupts and cc? /friend them and do give them a compliment, something along the line of, “wow, you don’t charge in like an idiot/aoe as soon as mobs move, and actually use cc, it’s rare and appreciated.” Say it especially if some mage, warlock or hunter are being stupid.
