My Elemental's name is?

Demons have names. Hunters can name their pets. Why can’t Shaman and Mages name their elementals? Surely, they face many ordeals together and form a bond. Elementals are intelligent beings too, they deserve to have a name.

Earth Ele is Steve.

Demons don’t belong to us either, we make a deal with them. Doesn’t mean the elementals can’t have their own name.

I don’t see what that has to do with elementals, which are distinctly not demons.
Demons also talk. They can make their names know. It’s not like Warlocks are naming them like a hunter does a pet…

Mage: * Poofs elemental *
Elemental: …
Mage: Hello, living water thing!
Elemental: …
Mage: I shall call you, Salty!
Elemental: …

Warlock: Hello, short green creat–
Imp: My name’s Ainurkaar, jerk!

Well warlocks don’t really get to name their demons. Those are the ones they control, they already had names.

Irrc mage elementals are actually constructs, not real elementals that are well… super super stupid. There are times known when the elemental escapes it’s mage that it can gain some intelligence. Jaina’s elemental is quite special, as it is a child of neptulon and have intelligence.

Shaman elementals aren’t even permanent.

Couldn’t warlocks draw up a clause in the contract with the demon to legally change their name? If the demon is surprised when they appear, the warlock could say, “You didn’t read the Terms of Service.”

I imagine elementals are kinda like the robot who passes the butter from Rick and Morty… They only exist for those few sec/min and before that might have been caught up on a fellow guidies shoe xD

i have an infernal companion named Balboa.

Our elementals should have names. They are sentient after all. When Jaina used the focusing iris to force water elementals to try flooding org, they reached out to thrall for help, so they do have a will of their own. The “elements” are alive in warcraft lore, and we see plenty of elementals wandering around the world. Maybe mages and shamans are just temporarily summoning an elemental to help them instead of just constructing it. Of course they wouldn’t mind helping since they don’t permanently die unless killed in their elemental plane.

Dave and Steve: ox statue and earth ele, this is a well known fact

Good lord, not often I see a two years later break… I didn’t even know the new forums had been around that long.

You are truly a masterful necromancer to bring back something that has been dead so long.

Funny it says 2 years later on the necro, but it’s really only 18 months? Must be a rounding thing.

Oh well, I wanted to name my water elemental Bidet, since it always seemed to be up my butt.

I see this is a necro, but I’ll answer it anyway.

On the topic of shaman, they call their elemental from another plane, but it’s a temporary cooldown. I don’t think they call a specific elemental so much as it is them asking the elemental lords for some kind of help and being gifted a generic servant.

On the topic of mages, mage elementals are ‘misleading’. They’re not elementals in the general sense, such as elementals from the plane of water, but are instead constructs formed from the arcane. Something that needs to be remembered is that mages do not deal in anything actually relating to the elemental planes. It’s all the arcane. So while it is called Water Elemental for the sake of game mechanics, it’s more in line with an arcane construct shaped to the form of water.

My demons are from the Russian Nether and you know what they say about Russia.

In Sobiet Russia, Demon Summons You.

So… giving them a blue ‘arcane construct’ like so many exist in the game would fit the theme better and get rid of the elemental confusion?

Why do elemental need a name?

I just call him Rock Boi
