what??? so I can see a node, run towards it, only to see some schmuck swoop down from the sky and take it from right under my nose??? NO THANKS.
or what about the occasions you get attacked by a mob while you’re trying to gather a node, AND WHILE YOU’RE KILLING THE MOB, SOMEONE COMES ALONG AND TAKES THE NODE??
I get that some people are upset with the multiboxing… but the solution is to take care of the multiboxing/botting, not mess up gathering for most of us.
Cool, so we’re good if you boxers just stay on your own server and the rest of us get a server where we dont have to deal with all the nonsense boxers bring to the game?
A: I’m not a boxer. But it’s cute how the common tactic from people against multiboxing is to accuse other people of being multiboxers as if that’s the only reason people could be defending this playstyle.
B: That wouldn’t help you nearly as much as you think it would. Putting people onto a different shard wouldn’t do anything about the bots that are the real problem. The fact that you only care about multiboxers shows just how little you actually care about the economy. It’s just another excuse since you can’t come up with any real arguments against multiboxing.
yeah…go to the back of the bus like a second class citizen… not.
Sorry but I aint gonna be on some particular server due to YOUR incessant whining about a non existent problem.
you mean intended like multiple accounts hitting the same nodes to farm them?
Seriously…I dont CARE about your problems.
The rules are the rules…your agreement isnt required
So…walk me through this. Right now, even if there’s a multiboxer flying about getting nodes, you can also get that node right now. So it really doesn’t matter if they’re there.
You want to go back to them being able to get the node before you, and leaving nothing for you to get.
So the reason you dont want multibox only servers is because you dont want someone telling you what to do? Not because you’re little power ball of people cant instagib people in pvp or have an economic advantage?
Seems to me like if you dont have regular players to Lord over multiboxing defeats the purpose. But you’ll never admit that.
I didnt know that was a thing till I tried classic out a bit back.
yeah…NOT fun.
Some joker sees you making your way thru the trash to a node…so he waits till YOU have aggroed it all, then he goes and farms it and you get nothing but a repair bill for getting into the fight in the first place.
No thanks
What I would suggest instead is to make herb/ore nodes personal – in other words, every player has their own set of nodes which is entirely different from anybody else’s. This accomplishes a few things:
Competition is no longer a factor.
The nodes are there if you want them, period. The function of herbs/ore on the AH becomes one of pure convenience rather than necessity.
This could maybe be disabled in War Mode given the bonuses awarded there.
It greatly limits the profitability of multiboxing.
Because each character has its own node map with differing node locations, multiboxers can’t have N characters flock to a node to get N stacks for “free”.
One could still profit from multibox harvesting, but it’d look more like manual control of 2-4 accounts instead of mirroring movements across 5-40 accounts.
Still wouldnt combat the problems of crashing ah prices. I know this might sound strange but some if us actually want to make a decent profit off of professions. Not see 30 multiboxers run the ah and ruin the economy on a server.
Actually, you can’t do anything that requires a click or keyboard or mouse navigation instead of a macro with passthrough software. So if you’re running five accounts around farming nodes, you have the lead account. You press a key, and it triggers a macro set up with /follow in your other windows. So you’re not moving all five at the same time, you’re just moving the one, and the rest are blindly following, meaning they can get hung up on corners, slightly raised ledges, rocks, fences, etc.
Then, there’s no macro that can be set up to loot something. So you get to the node, you right-click to mine or pick in the first window. Window over. Right-click to mine or pick in the next window. Window over. Right-click to mine or pick in the next window…
