Sorry, gotta ask: are you the same Rankin that was predominate in the forums back during the Suggestion Forums days?
On topic: sorry, OP, multi boxing is not against the TOS. My question to Rankin is because this has been a topic since I joined the forums (a few months before LK), and this was a topic that would pop up ever so often. So long as the player is in front of a keyboard, interacting with the characters, whether it’s controlling multiple or just one, it doesn’t violate the EULA.
(I still wonder what happened to Oomy…)

The earliest multiboxing thread I could find was from 2006, it’s always been a topic and will continue to be a topic for the next 16 years.
The MB paid for all those additional copies of the game and the subscriptions to be able to do so. Case closed…all these multi box complainer threads are by 2 types of players…1. Those who were killed by one in wpvp and lack the ability or desire to learn to defeat them and simply complain.
2. Botters who earn gold or real money farming materials to put on the AH and are upset at MB for keeping the prices down.

IIRC Blizzard tried to justify it by saying multi-boxers have disadvantages. Although I’ve yet to see what those are exactly, as it’s not always clear which character is actually the player and which is a bot. It seems superior to running a bot IMO, it is controlled by a human which can make adaptive decisions and corrections rather than some dumb AI that can only follow predetermined paths and get stuck on rocks and trees. The reality is it’s extra accounts and subs paid for, so they allow it.

There’s a reason why it’s not clear, because none of them are bots lol
I still get stuck on stuff One of my characters got stuck on a fence and I went and did a quest without realizing he wasn’t there so when I finish the quest and go to turn it in I notice one of my guys is somewhere random and I’m like ??? then I had to redo the quest again for him
I’m willing to bet that the “community” largely doesn’t care about multiboxers. Let’s not forget that the forums only make up a small percentage of the player base.

Yes. I’ve been posting with this character since the game launched.

Blizzard authored that little statement, therefore they determine what activity grants an unfair advantage.
The bit you cant seem to understand is YOU DONT

Multi-Boxing in a lot of games is not considered cheating. One other game for example was a game called LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) me and some friends reported some people for multi-boxing and were told by a gm ticket response that multi-boxing in that game was not considered cheating or exploiting. In games like Eve Online multi-boxing while a grey area like in any game does not generally get you banned or suspended either.
I will say when people abuse it the after-effects it causes to markets can really suck if they do it poorly. Though I do see some benefit for it in more less popular markets like very old world markets.
It may not be against the terms of service but it very rude to the other players when they are just trying to quest and 30 boomkins swarm the area tagging everything.

May I politely request proof of your claim along with the data backing it up?
Thank you

I agree there, just so you are aware, those guys doing that are bots, they may or may not be using multiboxing software, but report those guys when you see them. Just one or two, the GMs will do the rest.

Blizzard allows multiple ways to play the game. You can’t speak for Blizzard when you say that multiboxing is bad or unhealthy for the game. As far as we know, it;s healthy for the game. After all, those who pay more give more support to Blizzard’s development by individually contributing more in the checks that go out to the developers every billing cycle. That seems pretty healthy for the longevity of the game as a whole to me.
Multiboxers; Paying for multiple accounts.
Boosted Characters; buying characters to be instantly max level (you just beat me to max level, nice…Do i care? nope)
WoW tokens; pay to get gold instantly. (you just beat me at getting tens of thousands of gold faster, do i care? nope)
Battle Pets; pay for exclusive battlepets. (if i dont buy it, im sure your cash just got you something exclusive. Do i care? nope)
Mounts: buying exclusive mounts. ( you just got a piece of content others would like to have without buying it, and some people only live to collect mounts. is this p2w too? Do i care? nope)
Ignorance must be bliss for the silly minded.

The worst part of having multiboxers in wow is when they’re standing still, and it only looks like 1, easy-to-kill fail moonkin…
It’s not. It’s actually 8 moonkins that are just going to moonfire you three times. You shouldn’t have dismounted. You’re dead now. >:(

Those are bots. They may or may not be using multiboxing software, calling them Multiboxers is a red herring.

Bots, do not, under any circumstance, use multiboxing software. It is pointless for a bot user to use something that relies on ONE session controlling all the others. Bot software controls each session independently.

Still, calling them multiboxers is again, a red herring.

Blizzix has the numberz, They probably look at what multiboxers are doing and are laughing at their struggle with their own upkeep. Like this guy is farming 12h a day to pay for his subs. Literally the worst paid job in history.
If there was an abuse, Blizz would do something about it.

I don’t see any problem with the player having fun with more than one account. Excess or lack of a limit on connected accounts at the same time is the problem.
2-3 accounts is acceptable, but 200+?

I think there is a lack of clearer rules for those who will play with multibox and limit the number of accounts.
