Again we shouldn’t be force into pvp when we are pve farming . Your argument is flawed and goes against everything the devs have been doing for the game up until now.
I mean I didn’t say I agreed with it.
It was just the only option I had. This rich scum bag was strong arming the herbs in the zone and he had to die for anyone else to have a chance.
I do think that’s pretty awful game design.
the most disappointing thing about all this the multiboxers own the market and with the and wow token they just self sustain their subs so basically we pay them to kill a big part of the game
Yeah anyone saying that Multi-Boxing has “no negative effect on the game” is just clearly lying to us or themselves. It literally makes no sense to say that.
Care to cite a legitimate example and proof that multi-boxing has significant negative impact on the game?
Are you joking? Read above, I’ve given many.
Anyway boys lets keep this thread and all others like it bumped. Blizzard is listening this time, so lets make our voices heard.
Has blizz ever explained their reason to allow boxing?
I think they just need to show more support towards multiboxers rather then kill them off. Maybe create them an interface or program for quality of life and add some fair limits at the same time. Like set a cap to the amount of accounts active at once, or reduce effectiveness in pvp so they can’t instakill people (triple marks hunters 1 shotting in RATED arena). Yet 90% of these boxers are literally bots that NEED to be dealt with rather than having the community pelt hate on the legitimate users. It is quite easy to tell that every pack of druids flying in nazjatar are not player controlled just by using your eyes. They are mainly the reason economy changes are visible, not legitimate users.
A lot of the examples are your personal game experience, which is indistinguishable from 8 people playing 8 accounts separately.
Common misconceptions
- MBoxers farming herbs do not affect others.
Well, to me it is an issue because for the majority of the expac I could not even farm enough herbs for my own raiding.
I could not care less if Mboxers profit gazillions. Its their game.
However, having armies of flying druids instantly exhausting nodes all over the map at once affected my game. Before the Mboxers plague, I could spend 2-3hrs and get 400 Zin’Athid. When they arrived like locusts, I could barely rake in 60 Zin’athids for my own raiding potions and flasks. Imagine spending over 2 hrs and ending up at the AH buying off the pests. It was painful.

All Mboxers are Botters
All Mboxing software allow automation, but so do many other devices and softwares. Not all Mboxers use automation. Some are legitimate. -
All Mboxers are farmers/gankers
I have seen a DH Mbox a druid account to be his mount. Mbox is a tool. How it is used, is up to the individual. -
Blizzard will ban Mboxers.
Blizzard have voiced their neutrality towards Mboxers. There is no support, but there is also no violation of ToS.
In fact, Blizzard does not always ban ToS violators. Sellers of power levelling services are not banned, though it is explicit in ToS that all power levelling in exchange of payment of any kind is a direct violation.
- Having a Mbox exhaust the herb/mine node is the same as having multiple players tap on it.
We are all familiar with “limit one per customer” for promotions, freebies etc. The very reason this had to be implemented is to combat greedy people.
Imagine queuing for the limited edition item, only to have the first person buy out all the stocks, then turn around and resell at higher price.
This is just a lame excuse for greed.
- The economy is largely impacted by Mboxers.
The ingame economy is controlled by people who have amassed a stupid amount of gold via the previous expansions. There is no way a Mboxer can even compete. The economy is screwed because the AH players buyout and reprice to reduce your selling price and maximize their profits.
There is nothing anyone can do at this point to reverse the price monopoly.
- Blizzard cares.
Really? Is anyone really that naive to think that the underpaid executives cares deeply for the sentiments of the player base that they will burn their own revenue just to “make Azeroth great again”. They know where all the gold comes from. It is not from Mboxers.
But multiboxers should be forced to play only one account, despite multiboxing being allowed for years by the devs, because you think you can’t pick herbs more regularly?
Hypocrite.
The thing is… 8 players farming togesther is no different impact on your game play than one person playing 8 characters at once.
That’s the problem with saying multi-boxing impacts your game play.
Show me on the doll where the multiboxer touched you because it’s not that one person you see every couple of months taping out a single node at a time.
It’s 30-40 other single account players tapping 30-40 different nodes and causing them all to de-spawn 30 seconds later.
As far as herbing goes, the only thing multiboxer’s are doing is assaulting your righteous and personal interpretation of fairness.
Simply putting a key clone functionality in the UI and adding a checkbox to make the window always active or active on mouseover would be fine.
Do you think this is an argument or something?
People don’t fly around in groups of 8 herbing. Multiboxers artificially inflate the number of people sharing the same resources; it isn’t 7 bonus accounts that would otherwise just be 7 other people.
As a result they heavily increase the average output of a given node relative to the players (not accounts, players) trying to harvest them.
There is a reason why retail limits limited items one per customer.
Greedy people are the difference between one person buying out to resell, and having eight fans enjoy the product experience the way it was meant to.
Image thinking this is a good argument.
So you’ve never played on a full population server?
Very very common on high population servers to see TONS of people farming at once.
Tons of individual farmers no different than one person farming on multiple toons.
Imagine making a good point about banning multiboxers… Guess you can’t, because you haven’t.
There is no server on earth where every node is fully saturated with players every time it is farmed. From a purely logistical standpoint, the fact that multiboxers definitionally access the node at the same time means that those accounts are at peak efficiency on a node by node basis; whereas normal players will be slightly space out and taper off in accessing a given node as stragglers miss out.
EVERY node that a multiboxer farms is fully saturated, every time.
Not to mention, multiboxers can still access nodes on high population servers, and still lead to higher average output from a given node, even when lots of other players are around. They just don’t affect the ratio to quite the same degree.
Thus, the average node that a multiboxer farms has a higher output than the average node that a multiboxer doesn’t farm. The end.
But you do see it play out…
