Moving from US to EU - account collection entirely missing on retail, but it’s right there on Beta

Hello,

I started my WoW journey many, many years ago on the US realms.
Since then, I’ve moved to the UK and a bit over a year ago had to start a new license for EU, under the same account, so I can play with better ping and people in the same time zone.

On my account they are listed as:
World of Warcraft®: Dragonflight (WoW1)
Americas & Oceania
World of Warcraft®: Midnight (WoW2)
Europe

Of course, I understand that my US characters did not transfer over - after all it’s all different realms. However, what mystifies me is that my collection (mounts, transmog, etc) did not either - except for a select few, very random mounts. There does not seem to be any logic or reason why certain mounts transfer over to EU, while the vast majority do not. For example:

Battle for Azeroth Collector’s edition items ARE shared and I CAN use them on EU.
MoP, WoD, Legion & Shadowlands Collector’s edition items ARE NOT shared and I CAN’T use them on EU.

The Swift Windsteed store mount IS shared and I CAN use it on EU.
None of my many, many other store mounts are shared and I CAN’T use them on EU.
BlizzCon digital reward items ARE shared and I CAN use them on EU.
Promo items REDEEMED ON EU such as Hateforged Blazecycle ARE shared and CAN be used on US.

Like I said, there’s no logic to this. When I started on EU, I felt utterly crushed. After many years of being a loyal customer I had to start my collection from zero, despite it all being on the same account.

But then, I got into the Midnight Beta - there both my EU and US collections are readily merged into one single giant, beautiful heap of mounts.

So, the technology and the means exist. Merging my collections was as simple as clicking a single button - that means on retail it’s nothing more than an arbitrary decision, withholding my achievements and my purchases from me for no reason.

Is there any workaround, any solution for this? Anything that can be done?

It’s not like I’m asking for handouts - I’ve earned those collection items through many years as a loyal customer. And it’s not as easy as ‘getting them again’, as many of them are no longer obtainable.

Yet there they are, on the beta - so close, yet still out of reach

WoW is a 21 year old game. Life happens, unfortunately. I can’t be the only person who’s had to switch regions (still on the same account!), right? It’s just not fair. :frowning:

Unfortunately theres no work around as u found out some stuff is transferable adn some isnt thats a devloper thing not something that can be answered 100% blizzard not trying to be unfair but theres alot of technical and legal issues why regions arent connected.

How can there be technical issues, when it already works just fine on the Beta realms?

What makes Swift Windsteed - a random MoP era store mount - and BfA Collector’s edition mount so special as to be transferred, when most others aren’t?

This honestly feels like an arbitrary decision, or a convoluted oversight due to nobody thinking of this circumstance occurring back in the day - after all, collection tabs weren’t even a thing back in the day.

Surely if this were to be brought up to someone with the power to do something about it it will be ‘fixed’.

Don’t you think it hasn’t been asked time and time again?

Beta realms and retail/live realms are not the same.

Unfortunately ur pleas will fall on deaf ears u will want to edit and move this to the general forums feedback isnt collected or passed along here.

Unfortunately ur request to steal a song is as old as time but just hasnt bee doable.

Perhaps the technology/coding exists in this new beta and expansion that does not exist in the current infrastructure. That is why it’s being tested in beta. There is no guarantee that will make it to live when the time comes.

How many video games last as long as WoW has? In a perfect world, if a game got a decade of play, even that would have been nearly unthinkable back when WoW first opened its doors for us. It is a lot of very old data they have to gradually turn and update bit by bit in addition to the new features that come around each go.

Store-bought mounts, there may be something tied up in the go-between, similar to why characters cannot move freely between the regional game licenses. There is a lot of red tape between the NA and EU that has existed since the game began. Perhaps one of our SFAs or one of fellow players who straddle both licenses can explain that better than I.

The most likely outcome is that it is actually a bug. I am pretty sure purchases made towards the NA game licenses does not carry over to the EU game licenses and visa-versa.

I’m actually surprised that cross region collections seem to be a thing in the Midnight Beta. I’d agree with Ayukama and that it’s actually a bug and may not be an intended feature. Beta realms aren’t live realms and not everything is working as intended there.

For your (and other users in your position) sake I hope that something did change that allows for cross region collections, but I think we would have heard about it before now? Blizzard knows that users have wanted this feature since regions started.

While I suspect people have the right idea about creating a post on the bug forum. One thing thats always good to try on anytime you run into a UI issue, which this could be, is a full UI reset. Also its not a bad idea to copy/rename the folders instead of deleting them in case it doesn’t fix the problem allowing you to more easily restore your UI, if it didn’t correct the issue since you can just put them back.

While I can’t post links for some reason even Blizzard ones, you can find the process by searching google for - Resetting the WoW User Interface

Just helping out with direct link. It’s very weird to me that you need trust level 3 to post Support links, but trust level 1 for YouTube videos.

My guess is that the beta realms are global and therefore region-agnostic. So having access to two or more region-locked collections isn’t a bug.

He actually is more talking about he has a mount that he didn’t purchase on the EU, but did for the NA and can use on the EU

That is where my comment about being a possible bug within the system might be.

The root of OP’s inquiry actually seems to be that he wants collections to be truly account-wide at the Bnet level. OP was implying that because the beta realms are global, all realms could be global, insinuating that accomplishing that would be as trivial as simply flipping a switch.

They could be but we know there are legal issues that keep it from happening.

Maybe they need to find out how eve online does it. They do not separate us and eu or any area of the world

Beta/PTR are entirely their own thing, and there’s only 1 testing region.

They also play by their own rules, on account of being a test realm that frequently gets reset.

Its a known issuse about support artcles requiring lvl 3 when it shouldnt.

Yeah, this is intended. EU and NA are separate. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

The only current “fix” is playing the “wrong” region account and dealing with the bad ping.

There are maybe a dozen mounts and fewer pets and toys that are cross-region. It depends on how the item is codedI noticed this when I made my EU account.

According to Ion Hazzikostas at one of the BlizzCons, the joining of regions is a lot more complicated than players realize. If it were as easy as players think it is it would have been done already.

For me (on my EU starter license), it seems to revolve around the in-game Shop items or ones from special promotions.

Yea. The Twitch drops are all cross-region
