so i go to the transmog guy and i want to just change my appearance. not save any outfit just change my slots look and not save it. how do i do this with the ‘new’ system?
As I understand it…You don’t.
You buy an outfit slot (first 2 are free).
Then you choose appearances for that outfit in similar fashion to how you presently use the transmog system.
Then you pay ~5x as much as you presently do to transmog a set of gear to save the outfit.
Then you can use that outfit forever for no additional cost. No coming back when you get new gear.
And if you have multiple outfits saved, you can swap back and forth between them for no charge.
i dont want to do this. i WANT to change my individual slots INDIVIDUALLY. NOT AS A OUTFIT.
Just change the item(s) in the outfit slot you are currently using. That works the same as it does now.
The only problem is that the costs are ridiculous.
i only change my outfits about once a month.
… you don’t want to save the massive amounts of coin for every time you end up xmogging…?
It’s looking really good for me to get a double degree in Mathematics…!
So when you do that, it will be more expensive than now. But, when you get new gear during that month, you want to transmog that gear.
L after L from Blizz these last 2 weeks, popcorn.gif
if the math people are running is correct.
a single character to set up once will cost about 20-40x more than what i have spend on xmog on all characters in the game over the entire life time of the account.
idk how that would ever equate to saving any kind of gold even at the lowest factor.
i only change my transmog once or twice a month across 12 chars. this new system is garbage.
But making said outfits are stupid expensive
So what I’m hearing is that you don’t actually play the game, because you’re not getting gear upgrades that require you to go back to the transmog guy regularly? Especially at the start of a season or expansion?
I’m not actually trying to strawman you, I’m trying to show you be example the utility of the new system.
Well yeah, of course its going to cost more, because you have to change it less, and it’s free to swap between Outfits…
Oh, that’s what I was smelling!
It works just as it does now, except the Slot is being tmogged, not the item.

You can see here that I changed my Shoulders, and it wants 561g, then it wants me to Save Outfit.
I now have the shoulders tmogged to that slot. https://imgur.com/a/PM3ZYL9
It’s not saving. You have to pay to save the outfit. You have to pay if you want to change a piece in the outfit— and all of that costs a lot more than it did prior.
Sure, you don’t have to re-mog every time you get new gear… but outfit creation, saving and changing pieces in outfits is extremely expensive and no cheaper for lowbies.
This is how they turn your mini persistent gold sink into a long term gold sink.
I think a lot of people don’t do things that way. They make up new outfits on the fly a lot.
Even for saved outfits, moving from a Custom Set to an outfit slot is very expensive, and having a lot of outfit slots is very expensive. The system is pretty abusive as it stands. If prices don’t change, I’ll almost never change my transmog.
Just FYI,
Blizzard would rather allow rampant botting and cheating for players to mass gold and do illegal sales, flooding the market than actually fix the issue. This is all so they can justify BS gold sinks that no normal person will ever be able to afford, all while offering “safe token sales” to get more money out of your box retail cost + sub.
I think one thing that needs considered is lowbies and newer players, if they’re so obsessed with getting new players.
Tier the system. The cost of saving an outfit and saving changes to those outfits should be based on level range.
i do it for 10-12 chars a month.
