No, you weren’t.
It would, quite literally, be impossible for you to “see practically everyone on it” since only half of the playerbase even had one to begin with. At best, you’d be able to see “practically half of everyone on it”. So you would be correct…what you claim to see isn’t up for debate, it’s literally impossible so it is absolutely false. No debate there.
I pay monthly to play this game. I pay for “extras” like shop mounts and pets. I pay for services like faction changes and race changes and server transfers.
I spend my time…which is the most valuable commodity I have…to play this game for fun. One of the most fun things in this game for me is collecting…pets, mounts, toys, achievements, all of it. Changes like this negate my time spent and devalue the investment I make into this game world.
I absolutely have a right to voice my displeasure at a change like this.

Correlation != causation.
If you were following common gathering paths to harvest ore/herbs, sure, most of the people YOU saw on those same paths were probably on water striders, especially in Nazmir & Tiragaard.
Everyone else, especially in other zones, only saw the striders once in a while.
Blizzard made this change for reasons that we don’t know. We can guess, and there’s what their CM’s have been told to say, but honestly, I doubt they know the real reason for this change either.
Not that it matters. The people making decisions for this game have been doing so badly with this expansion that this is merely one of many reasons why everyone I know has quit playing.
