Mount Equipment Is A Terrible Idea

Can’t wait to see sabres walking on water, much RPG.

Except that’s not how it works in 8.2.

Pack of wolves? Huge ticked off bear? Fine, knock me off my mount if they swarm me, or if I get within melee range.

I’m getting knocked off my mount by the FIRST HIT from trivial mobs that weren’t even close to me.

It blows great goopy monkey chunks.

I think it is great and am really looking forward to it.

Blizzard used to be so good at taking elements from other games and making them twice as good. Lately they’ve been taking elements from other games and making them worse. They seem afraid of being innovative and fun.

Why the heck not?

Unless they’re using an actual snare/stun enabled attack… if all they’re doing is ‘damage’ then I should be able to cling to my mount until I’ve suffered at least 10%-20% of my health in damage.

But no… a light tap that doesn’t even register as damage on my healthbar leaves me staggering around like I was concussed.

Absolutely and utterly ridiculous.

Is this why I never see anyone riding on the perfectly decent roads around Azeroth? You’re all running through the wilds like true adventurers and blasting through mobs?

No wonder I can’t manage to peddle all of this Leather Barding.

Save it for 8.2 … you’ll make bank.

So the bardings are going to remain?

I can equip the mount with water walking and apply the daze barding to the character?

If that’s the case, I’m slightly less than completely opposed to the entire mount equipment system.

Yeah, obviously you haven’t been on the PTR yet.

But do keep trotting out that tired and useless point.

It’s going to be absolutely mind blowing if the water strider loses it’s ability to walk on water on live. I will seriously consider stop playing just because of the sheer stupidity of it all, coupled with the massive response against it.

They are completely screwing this up. And it could have been good for the game too. Shame.

As of right now, the barding still works in the new zones. Someone else mentioned that they are one of the mats for the new mount equipment. Whether they’ll still work when 8.2 hits live and/or will stack with mount equipment is up for debate.

But considering that they just nerfed absorbs to make the No Daze mount equipment more valuable I wouldn’t want to count on it.

What’s funny is the first time I saw the whole mounts with equipment idea, it was a player suggestion when they told us they were going to make the striders specific to their expansions.

It continued on for months with a number of people coming up with variations on the idea.

Have to agree. The way they are making it is so much worse than without it.

Sorry, but your ideas are the bad ones here.

The only thing I love more than being dazed off of my mount by trivial questing mobs that can only daze me because of level scaling is seeing morons defend it on the forums.

Why are water striders considered OP?

Water walking? There are classes that have the innate ability. Potions (that still work) dating back as far as northrend (https://www.wowhead.com/item=8827/elixir-of-water-walking#taught-by-spell).

The whole thing is stupid.

Should we bother buying the longboi mount…now that there is precedent that “equipment” might replace their “unique” ability/function?

It’s a stupid system.

If anything they should have added it as a “customization”. Add a banner to the back, or a saddle, or armor, or something like that…but removing an ability only to add it back as a “feature” is honestly cheap design/effort.

Not surprised by this dev team though. They have a history of this nonsense.

I don’t completely disagree, merely wanted to point out that there may be an element of player feedback in the way they designed this solution.

As an idea, it has some good points but will depend entirely on how it’s implemented and expanded. Right now, it sounds kind of pointless to change how it works. With some creativity it could become a pretty cool system, but I won’t be holding my breath.

“Too OP!” what a load of hockey-pucks.

Then DK’s & Shaman are “Too OP!” because they can water walk even in places where you can’t mount up!

WW potions are TOO OP! because you can use them WITH no-daze protection.

WW elixirs (stupid concept) are TOO OP! because the same reason.

Too OP. snorg

They tried that. People collectively lost their &%*$(#& minds. That’s why we now have this system.

The more you get dazed, the slower you consume the content. Blizzard loves this, the heck with playing a game for fun.
