This. If we’re not talking the best choice, but mechanics, easily its Blood DK.
Your most complicated ability is Gorefiend’s Grasp and knowing how Death Strike functions.

ITs almost like people will have differing opinions man
I think the point is the vast majority of specs now are easy to play, all tanks are easy within a small window of variance
None of the tanks are particularly complex.
I’d probably recommend Warriors though. Not because they’re inherently the easiest, or the least punishing if you misplay, but simply because all the tanks are roughly on similar levels of complexity, but Warriors broader toolkit and just general level of power will make them the strongest Tank for the average player.
Darkside of the Moon or the White Album.
Oh, and all tanks are easy mechanically if you clicky the buttons when you are supposed to/
Welcome to Tanking 101
Press active mitigation buttons lots
Press damage buttons to keep agro
Pull the packs you want to pull.
This concludes today’s lecture there will be an online quiz to do by the end of the week.
Question one
When tanking should you
A. Press active mitigation
B. Not press active mitigation.
Question 2.
When you die because you got question 1 wrong whose fault is it?
A. Blizzards
B. Yours
Trick question. It’s the healers fault.
I’ve only tried pala and dh. The former feels very clunky while the latter was fun due to high mobility
I chose to stick to my BDK due to some hand/wrist issues. Monk has a 1sec GCD so that was too fast for me, and warrior was pretty high APM as well, but the BDK is a little slower in play. I know they’re not the top tier tank anymore but they’re fine for what I want to do which is +10 keys and Heroic raids and battlegrounds as Unholy. Lots of BGs as Unholy.
The tank with the most tools for the job in my opinion is a Paladin. One tool is a ranged silence which is very very handy for gathering that pesky cast (or two) wayyyyy over there.
I haven’t actually tanked any group content yet, but I’d guess a protection warrior is the toughest in terms of soaking damage. (edit: and actually pretty darn fun to play. Oh and yet means on my warrior, this expansion.)
Dh isnt a great face tank.
But for the keys I enjoy 10-12 range I have very little problem from mine.
Even with crap affixes.
Mobility, kiting and decent mitigation after you gear a bit.
I can’t do blood dk. Taking damage and recovering is similar between the two.
But Dh does it through simpler means in spirit bomb and soul cleave.
Less stuff to balance while also keeping track of the group and pats.
Just imo
You’re more than welcome to prove me wrong. You won’t, though, because deep down you know I’m right. I saw the sign.
you hurt what’s left of my soul
/cry
I personally like the Chieftain model used by the British army since the 60s. It epitomizes what a tank should look like, in my own opinion, and with a good crew you should be able to pick it up fairly quickly.
DK all the way.
I think you need to restate the question OP. What do you mean by easiest? Rotation?
I think you might mean forgiving while at the same time mechanically non-complex.
Monk’s super forgiving, and mechanically not SUPER complex. Problem is they are a bit of a crapshoot while leveling. Also they are famous for dying by a thousand cuts. I also find myself, every now and then, running out of options if SSB is on CD already and the run’s gone south.
Tanks don’t really have difficult rotation? When things are going well tanking is a snoozefest.
Ive used pally, druid, and DK to tank. I prefer paladin from a play perspective and have since Cata. Before that it was DK. When im healing whether it be on priest, druid or pally i prefer having a warrior or dk. Monk, pally, druid and dh seem to take damage spikes quite a bit worse if the tank isnt paying attention or over pulls.
I have a 120 tank in every class at or over 400 ilvl…
ease of tanking by rank (no complicated rotations/easy to mitigate damage/sturdy all the time)
my 2c
All tanks are about the same as far as ease of use. If i were to rank them in effectiveness for m+ though, it would be:
As far as my favorite, I’ve been a blood dk main since late legion, i just enjoy the self healing gameplay.
As someone with every tank at max level, this is the correct answer.
The best part is the Bear got some QoL buffs lately that made it not only easy, but better than average performance-wise. People still sleeping on bears.
You can take a look at some of the leading players on mythics and it seems like most things for the highest keys for the classes that go the furthest seem to be Prot Warriors and Monks, for up to +24s, but it seems like DH tanks and DKs can get up to +23 too at the max level. (although for Dh the builds seem different with gluttony instead of spirit bomb, which takes away one of our biggest aoe dpses in exchange for a more tanky +200% armor proc sometimes when devouring a gem and kiting gems and pvp essences.

Dhs seem to be able to go further as dps in mythics than tanks but it still works and it’s nice for the tank bags and not having to worry about talents. Top DH vengence tank still has a 3200 IO score with +23s done on their tank and a 3600 DPS IO score with all timed 24s. ( https ://raider.io/characters/us/illidan/Avade#season=season-bfa-3 )
