[FIXED] Most Legacy Instance Map Navmesh/Mob Pathfinding Broken

As of Legion Remix’s start, the mobs in Black temple no longer path around in any logical way, instead running in erratic and jagged patterns. This wouldn’t be an* (How did I not notice this typo for multiple weeks??) issue, if it didn’t also include Akama, who - instead of running to the black temple door and opening the path to Illidan, ran back to the entrance of the instance and in random circles therein until I left and re-entered the instance.

He then respawned in the council room, and - upon being spoken to again, eventually janked his way to the door and opened it as normal.

I can only assume the most recent patch broke something in the map data, whatever it is that the mobs use to determine the best path to any specific point.

Edit: This seems to be affecting more than just Black Temple, so I’ve edited the post title to reflect this.

My Icecrown Citadel run was less exciting but I did notice some interesting choices made by the nerubians immediately prior to Sindragosa, despite their task of ‘reach the center of the room’ being almost as simple as it comes.

Edit 2: Seems to be impacting a number of Legacy Dungeons as well - was very noticeable during Warlords of Draenor Timewalking - especially in Auchindoun.

Edit 3: In the last week (10/29/25) I’ve noticed this issue in most forms of Legacy instances, from old Dungeons, to Battlegrounds, even to Scenarios. Stratholme is nearly impossible to complete reliably due to the waves of ghouls and geists getting stuck behind the gate in the Slaughterhouse.

The sheer vast reach of the issue leads me to believe the problem isn’t with the mobs themselves, but the map navmesh - like some kind of script went wrong around Lemix launch. Thread title updated to reflect this thought, but on the off-chance we get a blue post in here, I’ll update it accordingly.

I’m experiencing this as well, and it is also affecting Karazhan. Barnes has a hard time finding his spot to start the opera, and all the trash mobs run around like crazy and often evade, sometimes resetting bosses as they do if not cleared (which is harder or at least much more annoying when they don’t follow you properly).

Can confirm this. Also happening in Naxx

Probably safe to assume it’s effecting all of them. Player pets are effected too. my most recent warlock run of Naxx I sent my succubus to hit Stalagg when I went the other side and she just ran in circles (even have a video if anyone cares).

Still seeing issues with this as of 10/15/2025, Black Temple is especially bad. Akama /really/ does not want to open the door to Illidan. It took several instance resets to get him to actually walk to it.

Still broken after this week’s patch/maintenance. 10/21/2025

Still an ongoing issue as of maint on 10/21/2025. Also seems to extend to dungeons - seeing pathing issues in Auchindoun (Warlords of Draenor) and some enemy resets/evading.

Yep, it’s especially bad in fights like KT in naxx where he has a high chance of resetting from ads unable to properly path to the player

So this seems to affect far more than raids. In the last week I’ve seen it in Scenarios, Dungeons, a couple Battlegrounds… Every week that goes by makes me realize how widespread an issue this is. It’s like they ran a script that absolutely /butchered/ the navmesh of most instanced content or something.

It’s actually kind of impressive.

Anyway, Stratholme (Ft. Baron Rivendare) unreliable to complete, due to the waves of ghouls and geists getting trapped evading behind the metal gate they charge the Slaughterhouse from.

Still critically broken as of 10/29/2025.

This is happening to Lorewalker Cho in Mogu’shan Vaults for 3-4 weeks now.

At the top of the stairwell in the Repository (after killing Gara’jal outside) where you meet up with Cho. After you tell him to proceed (he runs down the stairs and start pushing buttons to summon the 4 groups mobs right before Spirit of Kings bosses), he just continues standing there at the top of the stairs. You have to turn around, run back outside, and once you’ve “left the area proper” then he starts heading down the stairwell.

Once he does get down to the carpet, next to the wall of drawers/buttons, he will run back and forth on the carpet as if he doesn’t know where he is supposed to go. Eventually he’ll stop, and walk over to start the event.

Starting last week (I believe), in the room where Elegon is, there are 2 sets of mobs as you enter the boss’ room. The first set of 3 should walk forward, you kill them and then there is a line of 5. The first set of 3 no longer move forward towards you, they just stand there.

At that point Cho should walk in to start the event at the console but sometimes he will yeet out and run back and forth over and over on the long hallway carpet before he eventually stops and heads along his proper pathing. Funny to see Cho losing it? Yes. Annoying? Absolutely.

This occurs in Assault on Violet Hold as well. It’s especially egregious if Shivermaw is one of the bosses, as she will be unable to leave her prison once activated due to being unable to find the “right” path. The only way she can leave is if she lives long enough for the frost bomb intermission to start which forces her to fly out to the center.

Glad to see others are experiencing this as well. Definitely one of the most annoying bugs the game has had in a while.

Seems to be heavily affecting Kel’thuzad in Naxx, rendering that fight nearly impossible to complete due to the adds being unable to path.

Adding to this post since I decided today would be a good day to farm legacy transmog, until I googled “mob pathing in black temple broken”. I haven’t really been on retail since lemix came out, but I did notice it in lemix version of AoVH and retail Black Temple.

Still broken as of 11/10/2025. Let’s hope with tomorrows maintenance it gets fixed.

Still broken as of 11/11/2025. At this point I can only assume this either won’t be fixed until Remix ends, or won’t be fixed at all.

Currently, Naxxrammas and Stratholme are still a massive pain to complete due to this, and Mogu’shan vaults also has issues due to Lorewalker Cho not pathing correctly either.

I’m not sure how easily they could hotfix an issue like this. It’d be more likely to get resolved in a patch i.e. 11.2.7, but I haven’t hopped on there to test this specifically.

Honestly, you’re almost certainly right about that, but I’m going to try to keep this thread up for as long as I can, so eyes stay on it until it’s either been resolved or acknowledged.

That being said - still broken as of 11/19/2025.

HOWEVER.

This /does/ seem to be fixed in the Midnight Beta, because yeah, turns out I’m depraved enough to run BT on the beta to check. So it might be fixed when prepatch hits? We’ll see?
