So I made a thread about me wanting to get into tanking recently, and now I’m trying to decide what class/race.
I mostly care about fun, but I also enjoy “flashy” classes, like my favorite class fire mage has big fireballs and can literally set themselves on fire.
Prot Paladin is fun. Grab the legendary that has a 33% chance to reset Avenger’s Shield and makes it hit +2 targets (is that a thing or am I making it up?), grab the talent that gives you absorbs based on Avenger’s Shield Damage, roll through dungeons spamming AoE damage for absorbs and also it interrupts. It’s great.
Paladin cooldown’s are pretty flashy as well. At least AW is. And the Venthyr ability if you go that route (but I prefer Kyrian, because more Avenger’s Shield).
Anyway, Paladins are cool. And you can go Lightforged Draenei with it. Extra thematic.
(Also Prot Pally has that talent that makes WoG heal for more based on missing health, so you can just absolutely CHUNK HP bars if you don’t need to spend all your HP on your own tanky stuff – lets you finish some fights you really shouldn’t be able to finish with a healer down).
Jump around, ignite fire around you, rip souls from people, suck those souls back in, turn into a demon, blow up circles on the ground in different colors, wings on your back, and of course horns on your head.
For a tank, you do everything in style. And all that also is super fun to actually press.
My prot paladin has saved me from many wipes in Mythic+ pugs for BFA due to their awesome utility. Unfortunately, they are ranked the lowest tier in Mythic+ now for Shadowlands. Demon Hunter is more flashy and they are ranked the highest tier in Mythic+ currently.
The cd reset is a legendary, but most M+ prot paladins use the one that buffs shield of the righteous dmg. The additional bounces comes from the talent, not legendary.
Another misinformation. The talent makes the heal based on missing health for other players. It heals yourself based on missing health without the talent.
Prot paladins are 4th in representation in keys at +20 and above. However, they are 3rd place in representation in keys at +15 and above.
