I feel like Torghast as a solo mage is about one of the worst experiences you can have in it. Mage has some of the most boring and useless powers IMO, and the class has never been designed to take damage straight to the face.
Unfortunately in Torghast it’s simply not a reality to not take damage as a solo player. While generally I like Torghast I have already sworn off doing it solo on my mage because it is just not fun at all.
