Mortal strike versus outright damage

But why???

Because the classes have insane synergy with each other, and it’s probably not gonna change

I miss my old sub rogue  hemo/cold blood was a lot of fun.

Every CC DR type under the sun makes the comp viable regardless of anything else. Even if you removed gpie and cut mage and rogue damage in half it would still be a good comp.

It’s weird when ppl say they have insane synergy with eachother

Those classes just have every PvP mechanic available to them

Burst/Spammable C/MS/Invis or Stealth/Stuns

Having synergy = no DRs on cc, multiple sources of damage and types of damage and utility variety

It’s the same they’ve always said about WW and DKs

Is it really utility variety if they have all available utility?

Synergy there has always been around grip into FoF/Sweep and now Chill Streak.

Like its a signature move, the comp isn’t really CC based but just oppressive pressue i feel.

Rogue and Mage just have an almost obnoxious amount of mechanics that are vital in PvP, plenty of stuff DRs between Rogue Mage and Priest/Pally they just have an inordinate amount of CC.

Like you can make a rogue or a mage the cornerstone of plenty of comps same with Lock. They’re just the most pure archetypes in this game, Warrior too but gone are the days that a Warrior just needs rage to roll everyone since every resource bar is pretty much a rage bar now

Might be arguing semantics but idk IMO rogue mage has never been bad in PvP not because of uber synergy per se, they’ve just always had complete PvP kits

I’d forgotten you needed to behind people for mutilate

not that weird actually, those two specs lock really well into each other and cover each other’s weaknesses/amplify their strengths

some specs have historically had very good synergy like rmx, lock/shaman/druid, ret/hunter etc

rogue/lock is good too but the lock (despite high burst and cc) doesnt complement the rogue as exceptionally well as a mage

How?

RLS was a thing for a long time, and not to sound argumentative or passive aggressive or w/e but but enlighten me. Saying “they’re good together” doesnt amount to much.

Mage and Rogue, stand alone, will never be bad in PvP because of mobility/Stuns/Spam CC/Invis and stealth/MS etc etc. You pair that much PvP centric utility together it’s obviously going to be good.

Kidney is going to be godsend for any caster, that caster also have spammable CC? Even better

Dancing with the stars :white_check_mark:
RmX :white_check_mark:
RLS :white_check_mark:

Even without spam CC can pair a rogue with any ranged with only ele being shied away from

Lock/Rogue/Mage have always been benchmarks for PvP comps

Regardless, for Mage and Rogue specifically; with all that mobility/cc/self sustain/elusiveness etc they can’t be bad

They’re only bad or, dare I say, balanced when they die easily

It doesn’t have to be MS vs outright damage.

Why not both? Just roll a rogue.

yeah I get what you’re saying, you pair two classes with kits designed for pvp and you have a good comp and you’re not wrong, but even within that you can find better and ‘worse’ variations (since youre saying its not synergy that makes rogue mage so good)

you’ve basically described the idea of synergy, rogue is just the kind of class that naturally synergizes well with casters (and some melee)
arms has a kit that lends itself well for pvp as well and you can pair arms with most casters too, yet rogue is a step above that historically speaking in melee/caster comps imo

as for rlx vs rmx, I’d say that poly is a slightly better spammable cc for their setup based win condition than fear (because duration, pathing, and no blind dr)
that doesnt make rogue/lock comps bad by any stretch of the imagination though, as you described

but yes, some classes just have toolkits designed for pvp and pairing two of them will almost never result in a bad comp, but rogue/mage imo is like a match made in heaven

didnt take it that way at all, nothing wrong with a good discussion now and then

To me it started losing value when they starting giving it to everyone. Im guessing by next exp every class will have it.
Would like to see sharpen go away and only Wars having MS again.

I’d rather they scrap mortal strike healing debuff as well as sharpen blade. Give execute the lock chaos bolt damage. Sure it’s rng for execute procs but it would make warrior more fun to play.

Dont think anything in game needs lock bolt damage
that said it would be nice if execute
well actually executed. The damage on that ability seems pretty lame.
Cant remember the last time i was playing this game and execute was available and i knew i was getting a kill from it
 maybe BC?

This was the best discussion I’ve seen on these forums in a long time. A fair exchange of opinions and facts.

Plus 1 to both ya.

I think Enh/Arms has the best synergy

Players used to say that against a warrior you are playing at 80% of your hp the entire fight. Not anymore. When im on my 470ilvl Arms warr with a 470 wep it ussually takes 3-4 executes to finish someone IF they dont get help

I know this is true as i have had the same experience. Its pathetic in my opinion. I would be just as content if they renamed the ability because it does anything but execute.
