More World of Warcraft Experiences to Come

Big true.

I first viewed the forums in late vanilla and reading them then you’d be surprised TBC ever got funded and they didn’t just end the game for being a failure based on the forums lol.

Forums going sideways as per usual.

Because it has retail/classic rewards in it, people are grinding for the FOMO rewards. Check back in 3 weeks when most people are done. Engagement doesn’t equal enjoyment, no matter how much you think it does.

People can yell fake news as much as they want, but it’s pretty obvious that a lot of players are unhappy with Plunderstorm. You’ll find the same negative feedback on reddit, facebook, twitter… any place where feedback can be provided. I’ve been playing for 20 years too, and I can’t think of a previous WoW patch that caused this much drama.

At least somebody read the post instead of fixating on an obvious exaggeration as some sort of misguided “gotcha.”

Lol, this reminds me of during the lockdowns, many of Ontario’s politicians routinely held meetings to tell us about when the next meeting would happen.

Except the folks who hated Plunderstorm weren’t mad at the players who enjoyed Plunderstorm. They were mad at Blizzard.

If you were to flip it around and attempt to do the same, being mad at the players wouldn’t look all too great.

I dunno, that there article seems pretty straight forward to me. It’s all politically correct verbiage but between all the rather obvious lines is an apology.

All I’m saying is get your pitchforks ready for a rebound. Apparently causing a riot works around here. Though I would strongly recommend targeting Blizzard, not your fellow players.

You made a claim, you got asked for proof and then tried to pretend like we were the misguided ones? Well at least you’ve admitted that you were making it up. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Maybe you’re right. I just doubt they are gonna throw something together as a quick response to alleged outrage. I read this statement as more of a “whoops maybe the keeping it a secret thing was a bad idea because it leads to unrealistic expectations.”

everything is fomo now apparently

I’ve been happily playing retail while happily weighing in on how I feel about Plunderstorm. I haven’t needed alts to do so because my position has support.

Not sure what to say. My post over in their content creator tournament announcement has almost 200 likes. Feel free to prove that any of my alts are among them.

You want to surprise us in a good way Blizz? Do something totally against your apparent interests like dropping the whole system of allied races and allowing people to move freely between the main race and the allied version at the barber shop. Remember when you removed the character recustomization service because you’d replaced it with the barber shop and lost out on that potential income? How about something like that. Maybe a way to switch factions without paying (with the caveat being you can’t change overall species without paying which seems fair).

Or drop player housing. I know that’s not ready yet and takes a lot of doing but that’s the kind of surprise people actually want.

Or retcon a certain expac, you know the one. It broke the lore. You know the way, Bob Newhart it. You like surprising players with twists they didn’t expect? Yanking that out at this point would sure surprise us. We’d even let you claim it was the plan all along and not rib you too much about it.

We want to play in Azeroth, not a locked down version of Arathi Highlands. No more sideshows. You want more minigames? Insert some toys so we can play more bejeweled type stuff in game or something or flesh out the hearthstone game tables more.

Or create a new battleground experience and incentivize in a positive way that’s less forcing, no limited time looks, just put a buff on it, award people quadruple marks of honor and some conquest and chances at epic high ilvl gear for the first 6 weeks or something.

We don’t want more FOMO limited time weird events to drive engagement metrics (does Microsoft actually even care??). PvP makes it worse but to be clear most of us dislike it because it’s not part of the game and not the genre we picked when we paid for an MMORPG subscription and because again a shocking idea in an RPG but many of us like our characters and feel attachment to them and spending time on them.

if Plunderstorm did anything for me, it got me to run random BG’s again, because they are far, far more fun than some flash in the pan Battle Royale asset flip.

It also opened my eyes to just how many problems WoW currently has, and that time isn’t being spent on fixing them, rather being spent on this, filler fluff.

That is very disheartening and doesn’t paint a good image.

We’re being told in so many words by the forum moderators moving every post that mentions Plunderstorm in General Discussion to it’s own Sub-forum that the Blue team themselves do not consider Plunderstorm as World of Warcraft, or it too, would be fine existing in General Discussion, as it’s General discussions about… you guessed it, World of Warcraft.

Yet, our Patch notes, in GD, are filled with notes for Plunderstorm as clearly people are very confused about what this actually is and I’m for one not looking forwards to a repeat of it at the detriment to the entire playerbase, PvP and PvE to placate a fraction of it and to test things that should be in their own client, made by their own teams as that’s the whole point of locking us into the Battle.net launcher for discovery of them.

I hope, sincerely, that this ends soon and you go back to making World of Warcraft, a Massively Multiplayer, Online Role Playing Game.

Not a Battle Royale, not a FPS shooter, not a Lobby game.

We had the option of choosing those, we declined and chose to play an MMORPG.

Are you having fun making up people to be mad at?

Can it not be a nebulous icon on the roadmap this time? Could we actually know ahead of time if an event is part of the game or a separate one shoe-horned into the launcher?

Delivery is what hurt you the most with plunderstorm.

I’ve been really liking these more experimental additions to the game. Dragonflight’s the first expansion in awhile where the open world felt alive by actually having players going to the events.

I enjoyed Plunderstorm when I was initially very skeptical. I’m very curious as to what’ll be next. :>

I’m happy right now. I’ve expressed my dislike for PS and I’m back happily playing wow.

If the only people who didn’t like Plunderstorm were on the forums and social media posting, Blizzard wouldn’t have released a survey.

You seem to think you are either enjoying WoW and saying nothing, or hating the game as part of a “vocal minority.” I am sure there are plenty who disliked Plunderstorm and never said a word.
