They did a better job about bots back then- not an amazing job, but they’d take them out when they could because they actually cared to.
I often hear the argument that ‘botting technology has gotten more sophisticated in 15 years’, which is true… but are we really going to pretend the wealthiest gaming company in the world hasn’t had those same 15 years to get better at dealing with bots?
If it were really no changes, Blizz would have a decent number of people working on stopping botting. And really, it’s not like bots are subtle, if anything the brazen way they openly bot without fear of repercussions shows just how ineffective Blizz is, with their 2-3 bot purges a year.
Not to mention, Blizz putting wow tokens into China’s classic wow has brought many farmers over to NA/EU. What an absolute shock that Blizz’s promise/lie about keeping tokens out of Classic has resulted in massive detrimental effects on the economy of the game.
Ultimately- it would cost money to deal with bots/make the game better, while they make money off of bots- and more money means more Kotick bonus, so don’t expect Blizz to ever fix anything.
