I know this has been a topic brought up several times before but the recent negative feedback over the dinar situation for S2.
Perhaps the implementation and effect were still up for debate until recently and that could be part of the issue, but if this was the original plan all along, I think it would have been much better received had we known early on in the season.
The points made by Kaivax in this thread make logical sense and I think it would have been acceptable if we knew near the start of the season. Puzzling Cartel Chip Update
However, with the radio silence, players made assumptions that the dinars would work as they did before. Now there are sayings about assumptions, but when they have really only worked in one way, people are going to go off that.
Given that this isn’t a shortened/fated season, I can understand why the devs may not want to give them early or allow them to get mythic track gear unless you’ve killed the appropriate bosses. Even if you weren’t sure exactly how you wanted to balance the dinars for a normal season, it would have made a huge difference to at least address concerns that you didn’t want them to be too powerful. Something like
“Hey, we are wanting to add dinars as a form of bad luck protection but we are concerned with them being too powerful in a normal season. We may limit them to hero track versions of items unless you’ve killed the appropriate boss on mythic or in some other way. We still feel that this will be beneficial to most players though as they strive for those desirable items.”
Just something to give players a heads up who are making crafting and gearing decisions based the limited information that we get. This applies to updates and changes to the game in general, not just the dinars. I think this would help curb a lot of the backlash that was given out due to the recent announcements.
