Is it sending an identical signal to all client windows or switching between them to send commands? Not automation.
Is it playing the game for you, or rather, for one of your client windows? Automation.
All hardware is considered neutral as long as its commands and features are not being used to automate gameplay. https://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/38904-multiboxing-rules-and-semantics/
People could still MB, without the use of software and do it 100% through hardware. Still not solving anything you are hoping to fix.
There is nothing wrong with not liking something that the developers agree with. We see it with covenants right now. I think you’re going to have to come up with a better argument to get them to get rid of MBing instead of trying to go with the, “It ruins the leveling experience for players.”
I could sit here and list off a whole bunch of ways that same issue can happen without MBing.
Semantics issue #5:
Multiboxers provide Blizzard with a significant amount of extra income, and that, and only that, is the reason why is it currently allowed. True/false?
Patently false. All accounts should be allowed to be played as they see fit provided that they’re playing within our policies. In cases of mulitboxing, all accounts involved are playing the same as any other account, only simultaneously.
That’s a common misconception from a pure economics standpoint. If there is enough competition, rising prices aren’t the only way the market will respond. The more likely response would be that more folks get involved in the market instead of getting pushed out by massive undercutting.
To use a real-world analog, look at the Walmart example. When they move into an area, the usually end up attracting consumers which results in smaller companies shutting down. When Walmart moves out of an area, the smaller shops open back up.
In WoW we have MB’ers representing companies like WM, and MB’ers shut out most other folks from the economy because they are driving prices too low, just like the WalMart example. However, when a major MB’er quits the game, the game’s economy doesn’t suffer. Instead more non-MB’ers get involved in the economy.
As such, banning MB’ers would open the local economies up to more business and the market would set prices based on what folks are willing to pay. In short, there wouldn’t be a long-term impact other than folks being able to level without a line of 10 druids rushing through and killing all the NPC’s necessary for leveling.
Add in a 3rd party program. You press ONE button and all 5 screens react. How exactly is that fair/legit? It’s not. The ability to control 5 computers at once with 1 single keyboard and 1 single press of a button is automation. The ability to make your characters cast their individual spells and skills at once by pressing 1 button is automation.
Is not automation by our standards. This is why multi-boxing is just fine.
The moment that single keypress initiates a string of actions not normally possible via our base macro system for an individual character, then that is a different matter. It is also a separate offense.
Multi-boxing, currently, is not a violation of our policies.
Except you’re ignoring botters, which are the actual Walmart analogue. They’re the ones farming stuff 24/7, while multiboxers still need to get some sleep.
give it a rest …I SEE the common arguments in here…just ask anyone here how many of these joke box hate threads Im in, guy. Ive SEEN IT ALL at this point LMAO.
bad boxer wont let me gouge
bad boxer stole muh node
bad boxer ganked me
thats about 99.9999% of the box hate trash in every single one of these threads
I’ve never been stopped from leveling my alt by a set of bots. Its always been some multi-boxer, and 3 over the last week. And that will only get worse with the new server consolidations, more MB’ers over less area.
I’m not sure why, but for some reason the whole concept of Botters don’t need to play the game to farm, but MBing does. Seems to be a concept that is very hard to grasp
Imagine wanting to police people for playing a game they pay for the way they want to.
Literally the dumbest thing I’ve read today. “Give me tools I can abuse to grief other players for giving me the minor inconvenience of having to wait on a respawn”.
Anytime a thread complaining about multi-boxing comes up.
Me in my head:
I know things are different for different people in different phases in the WoW, but in all the time I played, Multi-boxing only effected me (negatively) one time. And that was on the Timeless Isle, on a PvP Realm when MoP was still the current expansion.
So I got to wonder, “where do you level where multi-boxing is actually an issue?” Because I level alts all the time, and I hardly ever have my experience impacted by them.
